Mass stabbing at US school.

No, you were not, and now you are simply being dishonest about it.

You were only indulging in a cynical display of political opportunism aimed at pushing an extreme agenda.

None of my posts have been dishonest. Sarcastic, most definitely, but not dishonest. And it has nothing to do with some extreme agenda. It has to do with common sense. That common sense being that you cannot blame and ban an object from a group of people and expect the underlying problem to simply go away. Was Prohibition not evidence of this? Both of alcohol and drugs? Hell, the government can't even keep bombs away from those that are actually determined to have them. Timothy McVeigh and the Boston Bombers shold be enough evidence of that.

I'm surprised nobody overtook him sooner?!

Awful news :(. My thoughts and best wishes are with all of the victims and their families.

This is an utter and complete lie,and anybody who views it can see that nobody before you posted had launched into any sort of similar behavior aimed at promoting gun control.

Really? What about post# 4 and 5?

And no, not a lie at all, just check all the other threads where some mass shooting has happened. I'm sure you'll find plenty where someone spoke up wanting to or agreeing with some sort of further gun control legislation.

Thoughts and prayers to the victims.

I can't even imagine what the parents are going through.

Geezus H. Christ, those kids were 14-17 years old - the same age range as 2 of my sons.

What in the name of God would prompt a child to do something like this?

THIS!

This is what needs to be addressed. And not just for kids, but for adults also.

Knife ban coming.

Knives are banned already, I would think. I'm starting to think these people had zero respect for the law....

No one here has mocked this tragedy.

Really?

At least there was no armed security at the school. That would be evil and would take money from salary raises for the school administrators.

Knife ban coming.

Uh oh! Mass Stabbings! Better make reasonable laws on restricting kid's access to knives! I'd suggest requiring safes with biometric locks for all knives larger than 2 inches. Also they should ban all felons (violent or not) from owning any knives.

So then those were serious comments? Oh ****, that last one is you. Do you really think that we better make laws restricting knives larger than 2"? Or were you just mocking this situation?

Only because the weapon of choice wasn't a gun. You know damn well that had it been a gun, the anti-gunners would be all over this thread like stink on ****.

Predictably, the paranoid right jumps in immediately with cracks about knife control when a bunch of kids are badly injured. Stay classy, gun nuts.

Clearly it's the knife's fault and stricter regulations on long pointy objects is needed in the legislature. Now that I have that sarcasm off my chest, such occurrences identify an underlying mental health issue... America's lack of mental health structure simply treating people with pharmaceuticals and sending them home is not working. Mentally stable children from supportive homes do not go around stabbing or shooting others. The implement used is irrelevant - if it wasn't a gun it's a knife (as in this case) and if a knife wasn't available it would be something else like a hammer or a pipe or even a pen or sharp stick like a pencil. Time to shift the discussion away from inanimate objects and get to the source of the problem.

While there exists a large gap with mental healthcare in the U.S., it is preliminary to label the young man as mentally ill IMO. People of all ages do horrendously violent acts without all of them being mentally ill by medical standards. Like, for example, the intensity of gun violence in Chicago. There are probably several serial killers on the loose that keep shooting other people to death for probably nothing more than territorial gain or it is gang related. Drug dealers and gang bangers aren't considered mentally ill for the heinous acts they commit. They're considered criminals unless they demonstrate that wires are loose in their brain housing group. Murder or wide-spread assault is not sufficient enough on its own for a mental illness diagnosis. As there have been several mass stabbings in China recently, I haven't read or heard anything that gives way to mental illness being a pivotal factor. Terrorists is the diagnosis with those cases.

That's not mocking the situation. That's making a point using sarcasm. Mocking the situation would have involved jokes and laughing at the situation and making fun of what happened. No one here has done that.

You mean like the left did when the Newtown shooting happened? What was the immediate response? What did Obama try to get done? Yeah, talking about a Pot meet Kettle comment.

A pissing match over gun control takes precedent over concern for injured children

Color me surprised

Yes, jumping in wanting to protect children from similar incidents, not mocking those who want to protect children from similar incidents. You really want to draw that contrast between you and me? I welcome it.

THIS!

Absolutely. The root of this horrific crime is a disturbed teenager, just like the root of Newtown was a disturbed young adult. The weapons of choice were irrelevant.

Is it just me, or are we starting to see more and more crimes being committed by young people who are supposed to be worrying about acne and passing the 9th grade?

You know damn well that had it been a gun, the anti-gunners would be all over this thread like stink on ****.

A reasonable person should recognise that behaviour as being inappropriate and not lower themselves to the same standards.

Call me crazy, but I can't find a single post in this thread that is a "mocking" post about the victims of this horrible crime.

Mocking liberals who want to stop children from getting shot.

So, then you agree that he did not mock the victims of this crime. The offense he's being criticized for is against the people on this board? I thought that's what the board was about.
