I would love to see North Korea launch a missile at a target - That would be the end of "North Korea."

The only reason why North Korea has been allowed to exist the way it has is because China doesn't want any nation too close.

Given currant technology, that whole "too close" thing goes right out the window. North Korea will be done within the next decade.

Rationality is a matter of perspective. We also aren't sure how much control he has over the country. There is a popular theory that a clique of Generals acts as a powerful balance to Kim, or that they might be ruling the country through him.

NK is so closed off that no one really knows who's doing what.

He recently executed his uncle's entire family. Not much to assume, as far as Jung's irrational behavior goes.

I think as long as China remains an economic power, and North Korea does not do anything too radical, China will continue to keep North Korea as a buffer and at some point it will have to integrated into the international scheme in some fashion.

Capable? Sure.. Any state is. But ever since the end of the Cold War we all know they will only go so far.
