April 3, 2014 (GLEN ELLYN, Ill.) (WLS) -- Warmer temperatures will certainly mean that more parents and children will be out at neighborhood playgrounds. But adults may want to take an extra look at all the equipment after razor blades were glued to playground equipment in East Moline in western Illinois.

Madden Jenks is a playful 2-year-old. He was on his dad's shoulders at an East Moline park last week when he reached for the monkey bars.
"He said, 'Ouch.' Jayson put him down because he thought maybe the coldness of bars or something, he put him down, and then he started bleeding," said Sally Jenks, boy's mother. The toddler cut his finger on a blade.

"We looked and they were everywhere. The razor blades were everywhere," said Jenks. On the monkey bars and rock-climbing wall there were more than a dozen razor blades...

BROOKHAVEN, Pa. (AP) — Police say razor blades were found duct-taped to playground equipment at a park outside Philadelphia.

Police in the Delaware County town of Brookhaven say the blades affixed to equipment in Eaton Park could have injured children playing in the area.
They said other parks in the town had been checked and were clear, but they will be checked by both patrol and plainclothes officers on every shift.

I can picture tendons cut, serious falls . . . Really, look at how they were placed on the monkey bars. Unbelievable.

Sad to say, it's not just an American problem - we've had several incidents here of people leaving poisoned meat, dog treats, etc. in parks in places where dogs may roam when out for a walk - lots of dead or very sick dogs. And it's the same type of people who used to put razor blades in candy apples on Halloween to the point where nobody gives them out anymore and every parent has to minutely scrutinize every goodie their child gets each Halloween.

The world is full of sick, ugly people - helps us be thankful for the good guys, I guess.
