I did think about it and I never said cuba was a threat.

Monstrous does not mean dangerous to others. It is still monstrous government and anything to bring it down is a good thing.

Of course, no politician will touch the issue, lest they lose the small-but-vocal Cuban voting bloc in tight-as-a-dolphin's-ass (electorally speaking) Florida. Politics wins out over the Cuban people once again.

Congressional oversight is a fairytale, a pipedream.

The US does business with China, as do many countries, but few are their 'friends'.
Cuba is actually one of the go to places for medical procedures, cheap medicine and free schooling. They also have armies of engineers that could be exported and have some of the most educated populace on the planet. As a country, they probably could offer us more than deadweights like Puerto Rico or Guam.

Maybe. But they are not free to leave, which has always been a basic human right everywhere but in the most totalitarian nations. Is it your understanding that Cuba has a higher standard of living, or a better educational system, than Guam or Puerto Rico?

Standard of living is dependent on the demographic tested. My contention is that we'd probably benefit more from Cuba where the majority of the population is educated than a place like Guam where most are dependent on US charity. They have a native population that is far more educated than Puerto Rico's. Why not take advantage of that?

Does the adminstration believe smartphone using cubans are going to create a Cuban Spring? One problem Mr. President...most cubans dont have smart phones or twitter accounts.

Many Cubans who have have escaped from Cuba have made successes of themselves in the US but none in Cubba are permitted to legally leave. That's probably why the US, or any other country in the world, has been able to take advantage of all these highly educated people you speak of.
