Oregon Gov. hopeful links gay marriage with murder

it very much depends on how far you push your intolerance.
you can push yourself into the religious bigot realm by being intolerant of her views.

See bold. Woohoo! I'm not a bigot.

bigot doesn't just work one way like people think it does.

Wait, you're claiming that one can be a bigot against bigots. But that doesn't satisfy the definition you posted (again, see bold).

You're confused. Tolerance isn't the acceptance of your point of view, it's acceptance of your right to have that point of view.

Libbos are most certainly intolerant.

Bible, rabbit's foot, hippie healing crystals, it's all the same to me, and if it keeps someone on the straight and narrow then by all means let them keep it.

I remember a rabbit's foot (perhaps) in a book or movie being something like keeping someone from going on a murder spree. I think it might be a loose association with Mice and Men or it might be a gangster movie wherein a guy actually had a rabbit's foot.

We can't all make moral decisions based on empathy or the Golden Rule.

Are you trying to sap all the faith I have left in humanity.

America's Bluest of Blue States: WASHINGTON

Feel free to consider the source, but WA is pretty blue. Elections suggest it is so. Eastern WA and parts of Western WA are certainly red. But King County, home to Seattle as well as a total of about 1/3 of WA's population is VERY Blue.

My memories of Washington are dated, back to Bush--the state seemed very divided.
I see Cantwell as a weak candidate in a mid-term 2018 Senate race.
She needs to get more involved in good legislation, with Murray and Wyden.

DEMs will be hard-pressed to repeat their sweep of Senate seats across the Canadian/Northern border in 2018, 14-0.

For the next decade or more, we see two Senate cycles for Dems and then one for GOPs, 2016 for instance.
By odds, 2018 will be harder to hold for Dems than 2020, the POTUS year .

To say that is unfair. Therefore...

Not at all. My fairness is known throughout the land as exceptional. Some say it is without flaw.

You don't get to decide what is right based on your religious beliefs. It is based upon laws. Those laws are not about religion.

You don't get to decide either!

If enough like-minded Christians support a candidate and he wins the election, we expect him to base his decisions on his biblical view of the world. After all we are the ones who supported him. In this instance biblical principles would be used to pass laws, and there is nothing you could do to stop it. You have no say so in what we do in our states or our districts. You will find that there are still many places in the country that support Christianity and live there lives accordingly.

You think that's bad, try using your turn signals when you want to merge into traffic next time you're in Boston.

You're electing a man for a certain office, you're not electing El Dictator Generalissimo.

I grew up in Miami. People in south Florida have no concept of traffic law.

How do you know?
Murder and theft aren't actions condoned by civil societies, religious or not. Playing dumb is one thing, but I think you've overplayed your hand.

Someone in this position is only one voice among 534 others.

When asked about some of the issues potentially facing voters, such as same-sex marriage, the 52-year-old business owner laid out her position.

“I would have to say, I definitely believe that that is wrong,” she said during the four-minute videotaped interview. “I believe it’s a sin, just the same as murder’s a sin.”

?????

El Dictator Generalissimo...very good, i like that..i make have to borrow it from you.

I think I can figure out all on my own where you're going to use it.

Right, and each of those 535 someones is bound by Constitutional law.

Yup, and they're free to have the laws they voted for thrown out by Federal Courts for being unconstitutional.

If they overstep the Constitution their laws should be thrown out. Still, who they are will manifest itself if the things they support.

Okay, I'm not really certain I know what you're arguing anymore.

I feel the same way about what you are saying. I'm not even sure we disagree.
