I like this pope. His dislike of bling bling Christianity is having effects in Germany and now Atlanta, GA. This is a type of Christianity I could probably embrace.
Its amusing that Jesus didn't own hardly anything but many of these Catholics leaders and Christians run around live like kinds.

    Tele-Evangelist Lifestyles
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I like this Pope too. To be honest, I have trouble believing that he was picked. He is definitely a breath of fresh air.

I have seen no evidence he such a thing. It was the Dawkinites, the Gnus, and the like who accused him of that.

Fish stinks from the head. If the church cared about stopping child rape, then the church would have done things to stop child rape.

Whilst it is not true the Roman Church had more instances of child abuse than other clergy, teachers, scout masters, coaches, or indeed the general male population, it is certainly true they did cover it up often. The Church has done things to change that however, and I believe Ratzinger did his part to reform the Church's practices in this regard.
