You know that will never happen, right? It's just a feel good thing. No Congress has the power to impose regulation on a future Congress. That's why those budget resolutions that call for cost cutting over the next (how ever long it will be that they are out of office) always get rolled back.

Well, it seems to me, eventually, only certain groups of people will be able to afford to own and operate private vehicles in California. Older cars will begin to fail and not be able to be replaced.

J/k or not, I haven't had an at-fault accident in about 15 yrs, nor a moving violation in about 10. I drive 30-40 hours a week on the job and about 6 more off the job.

Have you notices Little bumps on the headlights and mirrors? That is to direct the wind over the car no matter how ugly the Little car pimples are.

In a few years all the cars will be looking the same so it won't matter which one you buy.
Actually the three little bumps on headlights are reference points for headlamp alignment equipment. True story. They are computerized now (used to have level bubbles and mirrors in them), they attach to the headlamp lens with suction cups and measure horizontal, vertical, and parallel angles. How many of you already knew that?

Congress has nothing to do with it. They have no control. These rules are regulatory mandates from Government Agencies.

The only way to change these regulatory mandates is to defund the EPA, and in the case of ZERO emission sales in California, defund the California Air Resources Board.

I don't see that happening any time soon, but there is always hope.

Right but you mentioned traffic in California in relation to the back up cameras. They are not used in traffic, just when the car is in reverse, so I got confused how the two related.

None of my cars have them, but they don't "go crazy". If a sensor is not working they remain disabled and turn on a service light. A scan tell will tell you which sensor is malfunctioning. Likewise, is the airbag or SRS light is on, your airbags will not deploy. If an ABS light is on your brakes will function like normal brakes without the antilock function. These systems are designed to not cause mechanical failure.

Oh. I see. Well, I was suggesting the always growing list of regulatory mandates is eventually going to add so much to the price of a car, very few people will be able to afford to purchase them. Hence, the roads will clear out, and it will be like the old days again here in So Cal.

What are you talking about? They ARE suggestions. Guidelines, if you will. Drive this fast whenever you are not in a hurry signs.
