Obamacare tops 6 million signups [W:263:617]

re: Obamacare tops 6 million signups [W:263]

I am an old cynic when it comes to politics. I suppose congratulations is at hand for the Democrats. They have succeeded in pushing their political agenda, the ACA on the American people which is probably here to stay. For 4 years now since its passage those for the ACA has been constantly between the 35-40% range. Those against between 53-60%, a constant gap of 10-20 percentage points advantage against. Yet somehow the Democrats have managed to keep this law in place. Kudos Democrats.

I think one of the main reasons for this is they, the Democrats are more astute at playing the political games. First the Democrats made sure all the good stuff in the ACA was front loaded. All of it would kick in before the election of 2012 with the bad stuff waiting until after the November’s election. It is true the Democrats paid a heavy price at the polls in 2010 for going against most voters’ wishes, but they ensured that would not happen again in 2012 by delaying the bad stuff. The ACA unlike in 2010 wasn’t really an issue in 2012 and the Democrats won or at least preserved the status quo.

Then some of the bad stuff kicked in, the Democrats know they are in real trouble for the 2014 election. So what do they do, they delay and postpone more of the bad stuff until after the November election. Great political move and it just might work in helping them retain the senate. The house is safely Republican. What the majority of Americans think or want concerning this law is moot, irrelevant, does not count. It is their political agenda that does and the Democrats are very good at achieving that, the republicans are minor leagues when it comes to the political games being played in Washington.

There has been two polls out which prove this law has hurt more than twice as many people as it has helped. But do the Democrats care? No, they cite the figures that prove the law has had no effect on most people. So the law hurts more people than helps, no big deal, the Democrats political agenda has been accomplished. This law is here to stay I am sad to say, here to stay regardless of what most Americans want, here to stay even if in the end the law hurts more than it helps. All I can say is congratulations Democrats, you have achieved a political agenda you been trying to get since FDR. Kudos to you, your party won, the wants, wishes and needs of the majority of Americans lost.

Boo hoo. Now Americans won't go broke, lose their homes, lose their retirement and everything they've worked for their entire lives if they get sick. How horrible for the American people.

Only in the liberal world do people think only with their hearts forgetting their brain. Only in the liberal world do we need a Federal monstrosity to protect people from themselves and to save a very small minority when that could easily be done in the states. Too bad liberals never hold themselves accountable for failures and the huge debt created. Ask yourself how many people could be insured in the private sector without Federal involvement with the 250 billion a year in debt service?

Except of course the dozens of millions who remain uninsured, the ones whose policies they bought on the Exchange get cancelled because they can't afford or don't pay the premiums, and the ones who can't afford the out of pocket expenses they have to pony up.

re: Obamacare tops 6 million signups [W:263]

No where have I stated 100% was the expected coverage. You assume that - however, enough people have to sign up and pay, to cover those who do not or cannot pay. Do you deny this was how the ACA was financially structured?

That is a lie.

Covering the 48 million uninsured is #1 on your list

Probably. The ACA was predicated on three primary things: 1.) Covering 48 million uninsured 2.) Reducing the cost of health insurance 3.) The individual mandate
Minor selling points were: Creation of jobs, reduction in family cost for insurance, no refusal for pre-existing conditions

If 48 million needed insurance, a plan to cover them should have been put together and funded. Instead, the ACA created a plan where those who didn't need health insurance and who primarily wouldn't use it much or at all, would pay for those who did need it.

Those who can't afford to pay can get subsidized. If they don't want insurance they can pay the fine...which will be used as their insurance coverage if they have to go to a hospital. One way or another everyone will have health insurance. Get used to it because ACA is going to be with us for a very long time.

"We have no idea how many people paid their premiums, or the demographics of the enrollees, or the split between Medicaid and Private insurance.... BUT WE GOT 6 MILLION SOMETHING! WOO HOO!"

According to one study, 85% seem to be paying

Do you have any links to credible #'s documenting people who have had their exchange plans cancelled and people who can't afford OOP expenses, or are you just spit-balling?

Two things:

1) That is 12 states. Where are the other 38?

2) If we assume that the 12 states are a valid statistical representation of the country as a whole then the actual number is 5.1 million, not 6 million and that is only 73% of the 7 million goal.

Its ludicrous that they killed peoples insurance, those same people (the ones that were already responsible and providing for their own and their families healthcare) then signed up (because...oh yeah...they had their insurance cancelled) and people want to trumpet the 'success' of the ACA.

Dazzle me.

Those who have to pay up to $12,700 out of pocket expenses don't get those expenses paid for them.

No, because people only just started accessing their plans, and they get a 90 day grace period, so it hasn't been around long enough for people to get cancelled for non-payment. But of course you already knew that.

And yes, I know, sangha...$12,700 in out of pocket expenses will be nothing for these people.;)

AP had the total cancellations at 4.7 million documented with 18 states not even tracking that data. So assuming that zero people had their insurance cancelled in those 18 states that means that a gain 400,00 newly insured. That is roughly 1% of the total uninsured as claimed by Democrats in 2010.

1) They're not available

2) No, that's not true because the #'s in the chart are not all "as of" now. And I don't know where or how you came up with 5.1 million

Your attempt to change the topic to distract from your lie is a fail

Yes, I knew that you were just making up stuff even though you have no evidence that anyone has had an exchange plan cancelled for non-payment

And yes, I know, sangha...$12,700 in out of pocket expenses will be nothing for these people.;)

That's lot less than the unlimited OOP expenses people with no insurance can find themselves owing.

Your attempt to change the topic to distract from your lie is a fail

You accused me of lying about 48 million. I then challenged you to prove it was a lie and now you illegitimately accuse more.

Once again, back up your claim I lied and tell me, how many uninsured people was the ACA predicated to insure? If you refuse to answer or cannot answer, your accusation to me was a lie.

Or maybe you could read the explanation at the link, though that would not be as much fun as making stuff up.

re: Obamacare tops 6 million signups [W:263]

You accused me of lying about 48 million.

You claimed that ACA was meant to cover all of the 48 million uninsured. I said that was untrue

Then you claimed you said nothing about covering the 48 million uninsured. That was the lie.

IOW, I did not accuse you of lying about the 48 million. I accused you of lying when you denied saying anything about the 48 million.

I never said anyone has been cancelled for non-payment. Are you having trouble reading, or are you just having a rough Friday in general?

I read the link this morning. The man who runs that website is a staffer at The Daily Kos. Hate to burst your bubble there sangha, but them's the facts.

Translation: You don't know, you accused me of lying, and now you're caught running away from the fail. Thank you for reiterating why I ignore your posts.

Like your "fact" that he thinks there's only 12 states, right?
