I am left to wonder in what ways the U.S. unleashed anything at all?

Was it our decision not to become militarily involved?
Perhaps our involvement in NATO and the UN?
Maybe the support (diplomatically) of the people who wanted a EU tie?

The United States may have a bit less control and influence than you imply.

When Yanukovych rejected the EU offer, Victoria Nuland took off the gloves and started supporting right wing extremists like Oleh Tyahnybok. People like that have strong neo Nazi tendencies. Furthermore, in true gangster form, Nuland threatened to expose Rinat Akhmetov if he didn't put pressure on Yanukovych, knowing that Akhmetov controlled a key block in the Parliament. She also very visibly supported people protesting against Yanukovych in the streets, right before going to personally threaten Yanukovych. The thing is this, Ukraine is a tinderbox. There is a strong current of ultra right wing nationalism going on in Ukraine. You can even see hints of it reflected in the words on Tymoshenko.

The deal is this, Ukrainians are about to undergo some severe economic hardship. This combined with the strong ultra right wing nationalist sentiment that is there has the potential to form a highly combustible mixture. It is a similar type of mixture that brought Adolf Hitler to power.

Therefore I say, that by such over aggressive behavior, we may have unleashed a Frankenstein in the form of the highly combustible mixture that I referred to above.

Yet, nothing stated has ANYTHING to do with the United States.....and there was NO obvious (let alone overly) aggressive behavior from the U.S.

We did not unleash some monster...it was walking the streets the whole time.

What Victoria Nuland does in the Ukraine as Assistant Secretary of State of the United States has everything to do with the United States. A gasoline can may be in a room, but when you put a match to it, it can burst into flames.

My stance will be who gives a ****? Ukraine didn't exist when Russia took that land 300 plus years ago, hell Kievian Rus which is the earliest known settlers of the area are the center of Russian history. Ukraine was part of the Russian Empire and then part of the Soviet Union. It was Russians who made it a point for people living in "Ukraine" to learn Ukrainian under the Bolsheviks. In fact, there is historical area of what Russians considered part of "Ukraine" that is part of Poland and has been since 1922. Nobody up in arms about that from the uber Nationalist. Go figure.

Ukrainians are Russian who were taught another language.

Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats. It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office. H.L Mencken

So you're in favor of ethnic cleansing?

So basically, you condone ethnic cleansing as long as it makes Obama look bad?
