PERTH, Australia (KDKA/AP) – Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak says a new analysis of satellite data shows that the missing Malaysia Airlines plane plunged into the southern Indian Ocean.

Here's the text message the airlines sent to relatives of the passengers:

“Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia’s Prime Minister, we must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean.

They have found debris.

I'm not so sure. CNN said it might have been abducted by a UFO, or perhaps got swallowed by a black hole.

CNN said that people were saying that. That's what CNN does: relays twitter and facebook posts from idiots.

Da Plane.....DA PLANE!

th

The new information came from British satellite maker Inmarsat, which used a new type of analysis never before used to try and pinpoint the plane's last known location, Razak said.

"[Inmarsat] has been performing calculations on the data using type of analysis never before used in an investigation of this sort and they have been able to shed more light on MH370. Based on the new analysis, Inmarsat and the (British) Accidents Investigation Branch have concluded that MH370 flew along the southern corridor and that it's last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean, west of Perth," Razak said.

No wreckage has yet to be recovered.

Now the question is why or how.

And as it is pointing twoards pilot invovlement, that question get insane. I used to work at an airport. International flagship airlines were crewed by the best and the brightest and.... had the hottest flight attendants- hands down. (these airlines are quasi official ambassadors for their nations).

I bet the crews are well paid, screened for emotional problems, financial problems, religous and political extremism etc. when hired, and then constantly re-investigated for any of those things. Search warrants in say Malaysia, for these investigations are easy to obtain. For fear of the police, neighbors dont cover for you. Any hint of trouble gets you fired, with no endless court appeals about fairness.

No problem, we have a wide open field of what ifs that can last forever. Or until the next disaster.

I'm sure Bieber will get arrested again soon.

Well.....they do have Kanye and Kim Kardashian on the Cover of Vogue. Plus it has been 4 or 5 days with that issue already. Could sneak in there with a lil help from the Privileged classes.

Finding debris isn't proof they found the plane. They found debris in South China Sea, They found debris a few days ago via satellite. Until they actually pick up the debris by a ship and finally make a call if it's part of the plane or not.. you have to assume they found nothing of the plane... because the search area is actually sits in a highly traveled shipping lane.

There's a lot of crap floating in the ocean. (When is all of that tsunami debris supposed to wash up on the west coast?)

Already started.

I agree. They still have not found any part of the plane.

So let me get this straight.

Nobody know anything more than they knew two weeks ago.

But now we know the plane crashed in the ocean.

Huh?

I think what is known now is a more definitive tracking information of the plane per tracking technology showing that the plane did in fact take the southren corridor route and checked off tracking about in the area of the suspected debris field.

I was just down at the gym watching both CNN and Fox and this is pretty much my understanding.

Some new, never before tried interpertation of the data and a couple of maybes...

I think one reason officials did that is to allow family to claim death benefits. By officially declaring everyone lost, that sets in motion people's survivor benefits, life insurance policies, etc. Without that, the survivors were caught in limbo.

I believe this interpretation of the data will be proven to be as definitve as any information hertofore presented to date in this case.

I have not commented on any press release, conjecture, or senario since day one. All I said on day one is that...all we know, is that the plane is missing.

We knew this a while ago; it's just an official confirmation on what should have been obvious to everyone after the verification of the 5+ hours of satellite pings. The cause is not yet known, but the plane almost certainly flew with no one at the helm until it ran out of fuel.

Unfortunately, there are too many people in the media who push unfounded conspiracies because they get ratings. The truth is boring and or scary. Planes are complex and even though they're very safe, they can still fail and crash; and for seemingly arbitrary reasons. It's much easier to think that bad things happen because of bad people than a complex combinations of cascading mechanical and electrical failures.

But... these sorts of events are good litmus tests for news sources. Does the source try to give accurate information or is the source interested in selling papers?
