So was Tunisia. Med trade isn't really as important anymore and they have lot more to do to even dominate that. I mean seriously.

No Tunisia was no where as big as Venice and Genoa... they were THE trade empires of their time. My point is that this former glory is most likely a larger motivation than most other things... politicians tend to revel on past glories than actual factual situations they are in.

Without asking the question to them, we don't know. Maybe some would not choose to be independent but would choose to join Texas. Or as happened during the Civil War, they would choose to join together to form a new country.

Which are the ones that might do that? Be it with Texas or without as it was in civil war?

Of course, your reasoning depends on those hard economic times abating and not getting worse.

LOL yea America's wet dream eh? Anything to keep your dominance of world affairs right?
I do not support the U.S. dominating world affairs nor do I support it doing anything to keep that dominance. As far as I am concerned, nothing that happens to Europe is going to change the situation for the U.S. Really, America's strategic position would be weaker should the EU fall apart and its member states start breaking up as well.

Yeah, there is no real risk of a state seceding. Polls show most do not even supporting breaking up existing states into smaller states, let alone transforming states into independent countries. Only Puerto Rico, a territory that most Americans barely remember is part of the U.S., is liable to pursue independence and support for becoming the 51st state is just as strong.
