Re: Pro-Life High School Group Says Principal Banned Them From Using Life-Sized Fetus

So what exactly is wrong with using a life-sized doll as effigy?

Seems to me that some people cant cope with the potential results of their actions, therefore would rather not acknowledge the potential results.

If you're adult enough to have sex, get pregnant, make the decision to have an abortion then you're adult enough to see the result of your action - and you should.

You can see your own nasty **** in the toilet after you take a nice crap right? that is nasty too, I'm sure these teen "adults" can handle the aftermath of their abortion if they're going to treat their child like human waste in a toilet....

I am not afraid of the model fetuses and for all we know that might not really be the issue.

Perhaps the pamphlets they wanted to hand out during lunch was the real issue.

I don't know what the principal found objectionable but he is the principal of the school.

If the pro life group was unhappy with the decision they were welcome to take their case to the school board or the superintendent.

Who cares if the baby model wasn't displayed in a model of the womb....It was a 'life sized' depiction....

The article mentions nothing else about the display they wanted to set up, but they do mention the life sized model. So I think it was the issue, for what reason I don't know.

What pamphlets? Do you have specific knowledge of pamphlets being handed out? I didn't see that in the article posted.

So you don't really know what the principle objected to, but you agree with shutting down pro life groups so you automatically jump on his bandwagon blindly....

Read the article. They are objecting the decision.

    I did read the article.
According to the article the high school student who founded a pro-life club said the principal banned her group from using life-sized fetus models as displays.

But apparently according to the article he did not specifically mention the life-sized fetus models.
“He tells us that this topic in particular is too controversial to be talked about in public school she explained to WWLP.

Samantha, founder of Students for Life Club, stated that other high school clubs have had no problem setting up their tables during lunch.

“They had information about what their club does and what they have done in the past and they have pictures and they have poster boards just like ours, except for with different content on it,” she told WWLP.
She mentioned that her group had poster boards like other clubs except with different content.

She also mentioned other groups had pictures.

Therefore based on that info posted in article I stated I was not sure it was the life sized fetus models the principal objected to.

He just stated the topic itself was too controversial.

Generally Public schools are not considered free speech zones while school is in session.

It's right there in your article title.

The article is the article you posted. The high school student claimed that was the reason but according to the article the principal just said the "topic in particular was too controversial to be talked about in public school ".

The principal used the word topic .

And then banned the use of life sized models in the display to shut it down, like a weasel.

As long as the reproductive choice club gets to display life size models of birth control pills and birth control devices such as condoms, the sponge, IUDs etc. ,and the anti smokers club gets to display a life size model of a blackened smokers lung during lunch , and the vegan club gets to display life sized models of butchered animals during lunch I have no problem with the life sized fetus models .

But then I guess high school lunches will no longer be a time to enjoy a little food and a little relaxation with friends during the mid day between classes.

Is there even such a thing? But, informatively speaking, I wouldn't have a problem with that in an equal time setting.

and the anti smokers club gets to display a life size model of a blackened smokers lung during lunch
So you liken a baby in the womb to blackened smokers lung disease eh? nice....But, here is where you go wrong here...There is nothing saying that the club wanted to display graphic displays of abortions....But immediately you have to jump to shock.

and the vegan club gets to display life sized models of butchered animals during lunch
Again, read above....Nothing says that they wanted to use the models to depict aborted babies....This is you misrepresenting things here.

I have no problem with the life sized fetus models .
So, as long as you can take things a step beyond without repercussions then you are ok right? See, I don't think you are ok with it in any case, because I don't think you want these teenagers to see what a baby in the womb really looks like...It's harder to kill if it looks like a baby.

But then I guess high school lunches will no longer be a time to enjoy a little food and a little relaxation with friends during the mid day between classes.
Why not? Are the kids forced to eat at the display table?

There are high school NOW clubs in our area which include reproductive choice.
No ,I was not comparing a fetus to a smokers lung I was comparing displaying models that some may find disturbing ( I personally do not have a problem with life size embryo/ fetus models as long as they physically look like the development at that stage ).

Public Schools are not free speech zone during school hours.

Religious and political clubs can meet and set up displays in the school after school hours.

I'm not sure, but I believe that courts in the past have upheld students constitutional rights in the past....I could be wrong though, I'll do a simple search.

In the end though, when you said here: "I personally do not have a problem with life size embryo/ fetus models as long as they physically look like the development at that stage" it seems to me that you shouldn't have a problem with what the group was asking then because from the article, that is all they wanted...Or, at least that was what the principle used to deny them their display.
