It certainly trumps Russia's presence, doesn't it?

I think that were I a Ukrainian, I may well have participated in the action against the Yanukovich régime, but I wouldn't have pretended that what we were engaged in was democratic in itself. It was an undemocratic means to a democratic end. Having said that, there seems to be a wide stream of Ukrainian nationalist thinking whose commitment to democratic principles is shaky at best.

Doesn't that work both ways? Isn't it rather a universal statement, inserting whatever name one chooses instead of "Russia?"

It has become a ritual that works every time: whenever Washington engages in regime change, mysterious snipers turn out to kill both government forces and opposition protesters. Then they disappear and are in principle never found. That is the case today in Syria, Ukraine and Venezuela. In Syria, the events in Daraa pitted part of the population against the government for a year. In Venezuela, forensic experts have shown that the shooters were the same on both sides and the protest movement is losing momentum. As for Ukraine, the leaked telephone conversations and the ensuing reactions leave little doubt that it is a repetition of the same recipe, observes Wayne Madsen.

So Obama has created a Ukrainian crisis for the purposes of distracting from his domestic woes. There's a forum for such theories.

How can an illegitimate government, who took control through a violent coup, evicting the elected president, approve anything. Your sense of reason is troubled.

Exactly, and it was supported by the US. US foreign policy follows an "end justifies the means" mentality.

Are you saying that the Ukrainian members of Parliament weren't voted in?
