I could understand those cities or parade officials only wanting signs that have to do with St Patricks day being displayed and nothing political being displayed. But if they only banned one while allowing the rest then that would be wrong.
Sam Adams is crap beer anyway....for people that think it's high end quality and dont know any better

I guess they pretend to be more Catholic than the Pope. Perhaps they should listen to his words occasionally. "If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with good will, who am I to judge?"

THat's what I think, at least for NYC, so if the beer makers ever thought that gays could be banned, they were nuts. (not that that was their expectation).

It was good enough for the parade organizers, but they proved that they "dont know any better".

If there are Irish LGBT groups, they can carry (or should be able to) just like every other Irish group that marches?

Have you ever been to either of those parades? I knew the NYC one well. There are a million Irish dance and musical/band and police groups, locally sponsored community service groups, church groups, for example, in each of the boroughs....loads of them and they all march behind banners with their organization's name on it. Why should a LGBT organization not be able to have their banner? It's no more political than the others.

I missed where the gay groups are activist groups. Is the Irish Police Benevolent society activist? How about the Black Irish group? (I remember at least one!). The Protestant Irish group of Staten Island...activist? How about a gay Irish Catholic group who had to form their own org because the local Catholic church wouldnt let them? Activist? Or the exact same as the other Irish Catholic group except that they were excluded?

Im old school...drinking before micro and craft beers. If you wanted a beer, you bought what they had at the 7-11 and you liked it.

Now, if it had been Bud that might have been a statement. As it is Sam Adams and Heinken will now be known as the "gay beers". Not sure that's going to help their sales at all.
