Building Explosion in Manhattan

A woman called the utility minutes before complaining of a strong gas smell coming from outside.

I know such terms are relative, but would you consider that a 'massive' explosion?

I would say it is larger than most people have ever dealt with. From the report, the building collapsed from the explosion. That isn't exactly a fire cracker, but it isn't little boy either.

I agree with that. I just think it's a little dramatic, is all. But it's the media, so....

At least two people were killed after a massive explosion and raging fire Wednesday morning in Manhattan's East Harlem, authorities said.
Just two?

I have a feeling humans may be involved in some way.....

another NG explosion. i'm becoming less and less of a fan of NG. in 2000, a house blew up in my town. luckily, no one was home, but the mailman was walking by and got blown across the street by the blast. he lived.

personally, i'd prefer to not have it anywhere near my house, but i don't have much of a choice.

Hey. not all of us are from the USA so when you put crap like NG or any other letters for words without saying the words at some point in your post makes it kind of impossible for me to understand

I suppose that could be confusing for someone who grew up where 'ng' is a common family name.

NG stands for Natural Gas.

Next time, ask more politely.

Considering its used everywhere for everything its actually incredibly safe compared to many other things overall.

Don't feel bad, my first thought was National Guard. :D

I'm used to seeing it as LP gas, (liquefied petroleum), or just plain Propane.

Moderator's Warning:
Easy now... no meltdowns please...

LPG, actually.

An explosion that takes down 2 five story tenement buildings.

Natural gas and propane are 2 different things.

You've got to be really desperate for homemade burgers to have let things come to this. How many farting cows were in those buildings?

That's what they're reporting, now.

Gas leak with little warning.

No there was warning. Actually days of it. Nobody decided to call until after 9am.. despite the fact of "smelling" gas the night before. Wish you can charge people for man slaughter for thinking it wasn't their problem but bragged how they smelled the gas the night before on TV.
