Well, I would say the US has good reason to be paranoid. Sorry, don't believe you simply "flash" your passport. I call BS on that. Besides, the manifest is scrutinized for any known terrorists and if the passport was flagged as stolen in the three countries that actually check, a red flag would go up.

Who cares about the UAE? I think that says more about you than them.

Not if it has nothing to do with why the plane disappeared. I highly doubt that countries would want to add even more time wasting at airports, especially when they are already under pressure to ease the present draconian aspects of checks.
It only takes a few seconds to query the database.

Not really. Your draconian methods only give the terrorists a victory in limiting the very freedoms that they want to take away. The fact that it basically says that everyone is under suspicion and guilty is.. well pathetic.

Guess you never been to Europe then or are an EU citizen. I do just flash my passport when entering UK sovereign territory and I dont show it when leaving.

It does, but who should do it..... and when? The problem is there are no uniform rules or even uniform passport systems.

Everything you just wrote is ridiculous.

A terrorist group would have claimed responsibility by now.

Fitting a plane with large explosives would require landing a frigging airliner somewhere that nobody would notice and murdering 239 people.

Transponders have an off switch and a circuit breaker.

I fly a lot and the security does not bother me a bit. Why does it bother you, or do you even fly in the US??

BS. Any one traveling to or from a country outside the EU goes through considerable scrutiny. Flying to and from Great Britain from another country requires a photograph before entering immigration.

It does, but who should do it..... and when? The problem is there are no uniform rules or even uniform passport systems.
The immigration authorities in each country should, duh. Interpol keeps records of all stolen passports that have been reported.

This very well might explain why it hasn't been found.

U.S. Investigators Suspect Missing Malaysia Airlines Plane Flew On for Hours - WSJ.com

    Updated March 13, 2014 4:17 a.m. ET

U.S. investigators suspect that Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 stayed in the air for about 4 hours past the time it reached its last confirmed location, according to two people familiar with the details, raising the possibility that the plane could have flown on for hundreds of additional miles under conditions that remain murky.

Aviation investigators and national security officials believe the plane flew for a total of 5 hours, based on data automatically downloaded and sent to the ground from the Boeing Co. 777's engines as part of a routine maintenance and monitoring program.

That raises a host of new questions and possibilities about what happened aboard the widebody jet carrying 239 people, which vanished from civilian air-traffic control radar over the weekend, about one hour into a flight to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur."..."

Six days after the mysterious disappearance prompted a massive international air and water search that so far hasn't produced any results, the investigation appears to be broadening in scope.

U.S. counterterrorism officials are pursuing the possibility that a pilot or someone else on board the plane may have diverted it toward an undisclosed location after intentionally turning off the jetliner's transponders to avoid radar detection, according to one person tracking the probe."..."

Actually Pete is correct flying within the EU is very easy and I often just flash my passport.

You have gotten use too it, that is a big difference. And I only fly to the US when forced too... else it is too much of a hassle and I as an European citizen have an easier time of it than non-Europeans.. far far easier time of it.

So are you an EU citizen? You do realize there are different rules from Americans vs say a German or Italian right?

There are no immigration authorities when LEAVING a country duh! The only people you meet are the airline and security.

The Malaysians are denying it flew on longer.
They say their info from Rolls Royce [Engines] is that the engines did not continue.

Re: Malaysia Airlines says Lost Contact with Plane carrying 239 people

If I may just say Hello to begin. Sincerely, I was looking for a site to discuss this topic. I found one but after two days of participating there it has turned out to be just a group of people who seem to get off on the possibility of a terrorist angle or some other such situation. Though certainly it still might be, I'd really like to discuss it in a more serious way and not just focus on "exciting possibilities" as one person stated there.
