Record Support for Gay Marriage[W:162:334]

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

It is NOTHING like interracial marriage. Stop trying to paint and equate yourself as some sort of long-mistreated race of people that has endured struggles through history. It's dumb and illogical. You're just guys that prefer sex with other guys. That's it. You've never been forced to do hard labor or refused access to a university or disallowed from using a public bathroom.

bigotry is bigotry is bigotry. Inter-racial marriage was seen by the same type of bigots that protest against same sex marriage as disgusting and vile. Nowadays...those bigots have been silenced. The same will happen with same sex marriage.

More bull****. Btw, no bigots have been silenced, something you prove with every post.

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

It's just not a big deal. If they want to play house, let them play house.

But this will hardly be the end of it. No one invents reasons to play the victim card like the gay community. I swear, they're convinced their ancestors were slaves, too.

So...there are no gay people who are African American?

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage[W:162]

"But they are still the same. Only the race is different. There is a lot more difference between black and white" - Circa early to mid 20th century

Marriage is partly about children but the important thing to note is it's not a pre-requisite.

Otherwise you can amend the law and demand a fertility test every year for every married couple and if they don't produce children the marriage should be terminated by the state.

But there is no difference between white and black other than color. Can you say the same of men and women?

I never said it was. How about answering the question?

Sure they have. How often do you hear the bigots of the world saying anything about inter-racial marriage today? They are definitely out there, but they know well enough to keep their big mouths shut because their bigotry is not tolerated in our society today. The same will be true with same-sex marriage one day. Right now, the bigots feel ok to speak out because society hasn't reached the point yet where it will be uncomfortable for them to espouse their bigotry.

Ever heard of sodomy laws? It was criminalized to be actively gay in nearly half this country not much more than a decade ago.

Bigot says what?

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Cool deal. Understand that position entirely.

Still has nothing to do with whether or not you believe the current laws on the books are constitutional or not.

Great, then we come back to the question as to whether or not the current laws are constitutional. And "I don't want marriage as part of the law at all" isn't an answer to that question.

I believe they are and until SCOTUS rules on them they are. And even if it says their not i still believe they are.

Well now, sodomy laws were applied to all, not just homosexuals.

Even if they are not silenced who cares, they are free to THINK what they like but equality is winning bigotry and pro-discrimination against gays is losing and they can cry all they want while people who actually care about rights laugh. :)

I agree...but just like the bigots that used to feel free to spout their racial slurs have been silenced.....so will the anti marriage equality bigots. Its just a matter of time.

probably but that just comes with feeling stupid and embarrassed for irrational thoughts and equality helps educate people also.

How many anti-equality people refer to the imaginary "gay lifestyle" and stereotypical flamboyant gays instead of reality based PEOPLE.

Every woman isnt a baby factory and an excellent cook
Every black doesnt have an afro and is a rapper and thug
Every white isnt a dirty hillbilly that can barely talk english and makes moonshine
etc etc etc

Some bigotry will be cured by education and intelligence, some will never be fixed as that stupidity is ingrained and cant be fixed.

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Yea, right! I've been married to my wife since 1972. I wonder if perverted relationships last that long. We didn't need anyone donating their children to us, we had our own.

I dont know of any perverted relationships but when SSM was made legal here, there were couples marrying that had been together more than 30-40 yrs. Several more than 30 yrs.

Oh boo hoo, women get preferential treatment in child custody and child support. Cry me a river baby. Cry cry cry....

The thread is about SSM, not adoption, no matter how far off topic it's gone.

No one has the right to adopt kids but if straight people can, then it's discriminating and wrong to refuse to allow gays to do so, just like with denying them the ability to marry.

That is what my response was about....seeing if you liked being discriminated against as a man in family courts? Not fair, not right, is it? It's the same type of unfairness....

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

no bigots have been silenced,

Good, so you guys will stop complaining that you're being bullied into silence, then.

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Great answer! Not! As predicted, non answer. And it wasn't even a hard question!

You dodge virtually every question I ask of you.

And it's related. If procreation is integral to marriage, why aren't you trying to ban infertile couples from marrying?

If procreation isn't integral to marriage, why bother bringing it up?

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Okay ... maybe someone can explain something for me.
I just heard that there's a young gay female singer on American Idol who revealed last night that she was adopted and raised by 2 gay women when she was quite young.
Now, does that make anyone else go hmmmmmmmm?

And yes, this is relevant to a SSM thread.

What should I go "hmmmm?" about? Gay women raise excellent singers? An interesting hypothesis, we should research this.

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

Yeah, and there was no social engineering about anti-discrimination laws and just in general other races and people when I was going to school either. Tell me another one. I will just ignore everything to believe you, promise.

Yeah, damn that de-segregation movement and all that civil rights equality stuff!:lamo:lamo

Can you define "social engineering?"

Re: Record Support for Gay Marriage

I believe they are and until SCOTUS rules on them they are. And even if it says their not i still believe they are.

Well first, we already established that SCOTUS is the final word...not the only word...and that the constitutionality of those laws are in question and not definitive in nature either way at the moment.

Second, okay...you think they're constitutional. So do you have an argument to back that up and arguments to counter peoples suggestion that they're not constitutional? Or is it just "That's my opinion because it is, that's why!"
