"Paradoxically, just because people view the U.S. as the biggest threat doesn’t necessarily mean they wouldn’t like to move there if they could.

The pollsters also asked, “If there were no barriers to living in any country of the world, which country would you like to live in?” Some countries where the U.S.-as-greatest-threat view holds strong are also those where America would be a prized destination as a new home country.

That pattern was especially evident for Greece, Turkey, Brazil and Mexico, where the U.S. topped the list of places where people would like to live if they could."

Something else that is interesting to consider is the image we have of Russia and what it means to be Russian compared to what we have here. Think about it.

We have an overbearing government complete with the NSA to spy on us and the IRS to intimidate those who complain, which when questioned refuses to answer questions anyway. And don't forget about the drones.

Poverty? Last I heard 47 million on food stamps. Obamacare is cutting working hours for many to under 30 a week and that number will climb. The don't even bother trying to tell the truth on unemployment any more.

Goverment control of industry? Think GM. Chrysler and the health care system.

Has anybody seen that guy who made the video that supposedly caused Benghazi? What ever happened to him?

Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge. You know what Ukraine is to Russia? It is the economic portal to eastern Europe for energy. Of course, as Americans we would never condone... oh wait, we did that to. Except thousands of people died when we did it and we are still there. In Ukraine no shots have been fired.

Yeah, we definitely have the moral high ground here. 'Murica.

Re: Obama warns US will 'isolate' Russia if Putin doesn't pull back in Ukraine

    Ridiculous.

Obama says he is against the Crimea referendum because it violates the Ukrainian constitution.

So if the Ukrainian constitution said all gays should be shot on sight...would he agree with that because it is part of the Ukrainian constitution? Of course not. So to say he he supports Kiev on this STRICTLY because it goes against their constitution is absurd.

And is he for a country denying a state/province/territory the right to independence if that area overwhelmingly votes to separate? Of course not - but that is what the Ukrainian constitution (in essence says)...that the Crimea cannot leave just because it's people want to. So basically, even if 100% of Crimeans voted for independence, they could not go without Kiev's approval...which is clearly ridiculous.

So, Obama cannot agree with either and he wants to verbally attack Russia...so he comes up with this pathetic compromise.

'Crimea cannot leave because it goes against the Ukrainian constitution'...what a complete pile of excrement.

The only thing he should say if he wants to make a fuss is:

'We support the Crimean people's right to self-determination, if that is what they honestly wish and vote for. But we require independent monitoring of the referendum to make sure that the voters' are not unduly influenced by various external/internal forces'.

I agree with much of this. Obama has zero credibility, certainly to the right, but apparently also to some on the left. He's a **** sandwich, and lunch is served.

I live in Georgia. I'm a pistol carrying pig hunting auto mechanic who lives on 20 acres of woods in the mountains. When we refer to ''Murica" we're not talking about the one liberals like. It's not a slur here.

It's not a slur here. It's more of a joke along the lines of "I'm pretty sure those soft opinionated types would disagree with what we are doing here". We actually do have things like a school systems (pretty good schools actually), internet, government and all the same retail stores everyone else does. But when someone says "Have a blessed day" we don't get our panties in a wad about it. I'm actually from the Chicago suburbs originally and moved here on purpose. The guy I'm hunting with this weekend is a brilliant machinist. The guy from Ukraine who is handling my marketing has an engineering degree but lives almost off grid. We had to postpone our meeting because one of his goats had a kid. We are all business owners and have employees.

So when we use terms like that it is to enforce a stereotype and make a joke. It's beautiful here, we don't want the "enlightened" crowd moving down here to change it.

Right, "some" from four countries. You still miss the point that the US is viewed as the most menacing country, and threat to the peace of others. They weren't being polled on their thoughts of the quality of life of residency here.

Funny that even 13% of Americans consider the US the greatest threat to world peace.

Not true. The purpose was to come up with a framework for talks that would led to mutually agreed to verification by both sides that Iran was not attempting to use it's nuclear program to acquire nuclear weapons. Nothing was dismissed.

Some of us care about outcomes, others appear to care more about intentions.[/QUOTE]

I honestly believe you are not so much concerned with outcome here as trying to find some political ammunition to shoot at Obama. Of course, I'm not in your mind and if I'm wrong I apologize. If you are really concerned about outcome, one very substantial outcome of the talks was the confidence building measure that Iran would suspend it's 20 percent enrichment of uranium I know you are aware of that. It appears to me that buy not acknowledging this achievement, you are merely engaging in partisan haggling, something that is severely crippling the US political system.

But back to the issue at hand, I agree that on this issue of Ukraine, Obama has made a very serious mistake.
