I think he might have given the belligerents that started burning everything, toppled the government, seized control of the military and declared independence until 5:00 AM to surrender.
Killing one person is murder, killing 100,000 is foreign policy

Now if Obama and Putin wanna square off and duke it out on TV...I'd watch.
MMA contest? Putin would likely win that, too.

Now the funny or interesting thing is, that much of Russian wealth is actually in the EU. It is in London, Austria, Germany, in banks and real estate and so on. Now the question is if the EU starts to freeze these assets or seize them, then will Putin be able to keep his backers in check.. And you also have to remember that the only reason that the Russian budget is in balance is the oil price.. anything under 100 bucks a barrel and Putin starts to bleed money. I mean Putin can cut off the gas to Europe.. well we are in a warm winter so /shrug. But we can hurt him and his mafia friends by seizing the 100s of billions and 100s of billions they have smuggled out of Russia over the last 20 years.

There are far more grey areas that are not talked about, but are just as important.

In the end I suspect cool heads will prevail. I suspect the Crimea will get to vote on which country they want to be part off, and Ukraine gets money and gas from Russia as compensation and is left to do what it wants. This of course is all dependent on that there is no attacks or discrimination against the remaining Russian minority in Ukraine.
I am not quite clear, what you want to say. The USA was okay with the Europeans handling the security in their area. They wanted them to. So the treaty that lead to the present situation was a European thing. It was not the Americans.
And the other stuff might be interesting in another context.
So again: Did the EU understand, what it was doing or not?

You're being kind... Putin is ex-KGB Lt. Colonel of 16 years, Obama is ex community organizer and civil rights attorney. Snapped like a toothpick comes quickly to mind....
“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Maybe that's the problem. Conservatives just never emotionally graduated from high school.

My dad can beat up your dad.
He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear

    That's what I figure.

I really don't think that the Ukraine would be better off if a worldwide Nuclear Armageddon is launched.

Hopefully the rest of the world can convince Russia to cool it at least a little bit.

Maybe. But the reality is that when world leaders get pissed at each other and use citizens to do their bidding and fighting for them...history shows there's always huge loses for all parties.
