I don't know why but Lerner is going to spill the beans. This IRS scandal may finaly see the light of day. Obama better start a war or something.

"Former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner, a central figure in the IRS scandal, will appear before Congress Wednesday after refusing to testify last year on the matter, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said Sunday.

Issa, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, told “Fox News Sunday” that Lerner’s lawyers said she will testify before his committee, after saying last week that she would not.
“It’s going to be a good, fact-finding hearing,” he said.
Issa said he didn’t know why Lerner’s lawyers changed their mind, but suggested Lerner testifying was “in her best interest,” considering the recent evidence the committee had gathered."

Usually this about face requires "immunity", in this case for Lerner - I wonder if that was part of the deal.

If not, then this will only be yet another leftist thinking that they are smarter, and can muddy the issue further.

I wouldnt get too excited. You might wind up hearing a bunch of "I don't recalls" and "I don't remembers."

If given immuniity she may be a good Obamabot and assert that she was taking "her own initiative" (providing no names of higher ups) to try to determine the percentage of political involvement (per IRS regulations as written) of those tax exempt applicants with "obvious" involvement in political activities. Since a handful of non-TP/conservative 501C4 entities applications were also examined/delayed, she will likely try to assert that no "political slant" targeting was ever intended - it just happened to look that way.

I don't know though if she can pull off the Hillary gambit....She just looks like a disdainful bitch.

There is some reason she is now going to testify. Maybe the truth is about to come out or maybe she has had sufficient time and coaching from white house lawyers to spin this just right. Time will tell.

Immunity is not on the table.

Exactly. So we might hear, as one poster said, lots of "I don't recall"s.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said Sunday that former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner was not offered immunity in exchange for her upcoming testimony about the targeting of Tea Party groups.

When “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace asked Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, why Lerner had decided to testify and whether she had been offered immunity, the California Republican responded decisively. "We did not," Issa said.

Didn't she say she wouldn't testify without immunity? There must be some sort of a deal, or she'd not come forward. If not, then there will be so many pleadings of the fifth that nothing much will be learned.

I don't recall her saying she would testify without immunity but I haven't been keeping a close eye on this lately. I would hope, for Issa's sake, he can connect the dots and isn't being setup to look foolish.

After reading the thread, this tune popped into my head:

That could be but there must be some reason she suddenly decided to testify. This is really a sudden turnaround as yet unexplained. Sumpin funny goin on here.

There sure is.

Rep. Darrell Issa doesn’t know what he’s talking about, the attorney for former IRS official Lois Lerner said Sunday.

Issa, the California Republican who chairs the House Oversight and Reform Committee, told “Fox News Sunday” that Lerner, the former head of the IRS tax-exempt division, would testify before his committee Wednesday, which he said he had been told by her attorney.

That attorney, William W. Taylor, said Issa is wrong.

“As of now, she intends to continue to assert her Fifth Amendment rights,” Taylor told POLITICO. “I do not know why Issa said what he said.”

Dude, didn't you get the memo? The weaponizing of the IRS against certain political ideologies is a fake scandal. ;)

It appears that Issa's committee has written confirmation from Lerner's lawyer that she will testify if a one week delay is granted.

A committee spokeswoman, Caitlin Carroll, said Sunday that Taylor had “confirmed in writing” that Lerner was willing to testify but that she was requesting a one-week delay.

“We have informed Mr. Taylor that Ms. Lerner may make her request for a delay on Wednesday when she appears for the hearing,” Carroll said

No matter how much she stalls, she will still have to face my congressman, Trey Gowdy....Kaboom!

All I have to say is that no matter what, Issa better have his ducks in a row. I smell a set up here if she's testifying without immunity. The committee better have some surprises.

Tim-

Tim-

I hope so too, problem is that republican's have largely been blocked from getting anything of usefulness, so I really don't know what they plan of finding out, unless maybe Lerner is going to fall on her sword and take the blame to protect the President from further inquiry...I mean, what's she got to lose? She's already been given her 6 figure pension, and the lawyers will tap dance around any jail time, if there is any at all....I mean this ain't Scooter Libby we are talking about here, there are no calls to throw her under the jail like there was for him.

Listening now 5th 5th 5th....what a joke

Apparently, her Attorney expressed concern for her Safety in a few of the E-mails sent to Issa.

Yes, Prison can be a dangerous place.

Listening now 5th 5th 5th....what a joke

It's a " Witch hunt " !!

Ending in Lois Lerners repeatedly declaring her Constitutional right not to incriminate herself.. Lol.

What a mess.....for the Democrats.
