The Texas Constitution charges the attorney general, the state's top lawyer, with defending state laws and the state’s constitution. The attorney general is also charged with representing the state in litigation that challenges state laws or in lawsuits against state agencies or state employees, according to the attorney general's office website.

Lauren Bean, a spokeswoman for the attorney general's office, said the elected officer is obligated to defend the state and its laws and cannot “pick and choose” which ones he or she is willing to defend based on political views.

"The AG is not empowered to second-guess the wisdom or policy implications of a duly enacted Texas law," Bean said.

It does go on to say that how that the state Constitution allows for how 'effectively' one chooses to defend the law.


In this case, Texas AG Abbott will vigorously defend this law.

Therefore, I will not mention the TX gun law that should be Nationalized, or that we should have just ONE 'CC' law, vs. 50.
Or the two new voter suppression laws in Ohio today.

what sucks about fighting against piece of **** states that infringe on individual rights like they do for gays with guns issue is its hard because some of the protesting or ignoring of the law could wind you up being a felon.

unfortunately its much easier to fight against the state infringe on rights when it comes to gay marriage than it is for guns rights

a couple can get married in one state, go to texas and then fight for rights or fight against discrimaintion and thats awesome

but if i take my gun to texas in an illegal manner i quickly could be a felon. although i do have a CC in PA and currently texas recognize it. :)

I must admit I'm liking Ryan more and more, since he is intelligent.

If Ryan does run, he'll be called a RINO, which I would advise him to call a compliment.
