Harold Ramis was one of Hollywood’s most successful comedy filmmakers when he moved his family from Los Angeles back to the Chicago area in 1996. His career was still thriving, with "Groundhog Day" acquiring almost instant classic status upon its 1993 release and 1984's "Ghostbusters" ranking among the highest-grossing comedies of all time, but the writer-director wanted to return to the city where he’d launched his career as a Second City performer.

My GOD this guy was a comedy legend both in performing and writing some of the 20th century's best loved and biggest comedy movies

Ramis leaves behind a formidable body of work, with writing credits on such enduring comedies as "National Lampoon's Animal House" (which upon its 1978 release catapulted the film career of John Belushi, with whom Ramis acted at Second City), "Stripes" (1981) and "Ghostbusters" (in which Ramis also co-starred) plus such directing efforts as "Caddyshack" (1980), "National Lampoon's Vacation" (1983), "Groundhog Day" and "Analyze This."

RIP Harold - you're kind will never again grace this earth.

Aw that's too bad, I am a huge fan of a lot of his movies. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Around here, the only thing an actor can do to get recognition is being gay.

Re: [R.I.P.] Harrold Ramis dead at 69

smeg. That's how you can tell YOU are getting old. All the big names for when you were young start dying off.

While they're passing balls around trying to score

RIP I havent seen any of his work, and out of respect I think I should... Any reccomendations?

Re: [R.I.P.] Harrold Ramis dead at 69

Stripes and Caddyshack are my two favorites. Groundhog day is a good couples comedy.

Re: [R.I.P.] Harrold Ramis dead at 69

Loss of a great one! He's directed some of my favorites.

Re: [R.I.P.] Harrold Ramis dead at 69

Well this sucks.

Will have to break out Ghostbusters on the PS3 to see one more story with Egon.

Re: [R.I.P.] Harrold Ramis dead at 69

:( Egon was my favorite ghostbuster

Animal House. He doesn't perform in it but he wrote it and it's one of the best comedies ever.
Stripes.
Ghostbusters.

The guy was comedy genius incarnate. He might not have been the best actor but he was the kind of guy that made everyone around him better.

You nailed it - I will miss him and his work.

Damn shame.

not really. but when you get older, you will understand. It just kinda brings home the fact that I am getting older when many of the celebrities from my youth are dying off. Harold Ramis was really not that much older than I am.

Perhaps you should then familiarize yourself with the subject before you post.

and what is the subject at hand? A good man dying at a sad age. out of respect I said rest in piece and I asked for some good movies for me to watch that he was in. What the **** do I need to familiarize myself with? it's not like i'm asking how the basic US government works, they asked me a question and I replied with an answer that explains why I don't know his work.

Now can someone explain to me where the ignore button is for people like grant?

Really? You just can't pay some respect to the guy?
