I would if the doping were not harmful to health. It appears not to be healthy, however. Personally, I don't like drugs whether legal or illegal, prescription or street bought. I avoid them. But I'm aware enough to understand that prohibition doesn't work and that my attitudes toward drugs aren't universal.

I hear the WHO in the background singing "meet the new boss - same as the old boss".

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

When a shootout happens between the "police" and cartel operatives, it is actually a shootout between one cartel faction and the "police" forces owned and operated by a competing one.

Because it is the same as the old boss. The whole arrest was staged. The official story coming out of the (cartel-backed) Mexican media makes no sense at all.

The possibilities right now: The Zetas could make a powergrab into the SC's turf if it shows any kind of weakness. With many Templars headed this way, there is also possible war with them. There is also the possibility of the Templars being crushed by both government, civilian and cartel forces before they get here.

Our best hope is for the Sinaloa Cartel to remain relatively strong. If they can do that, we'll avoid 3-4 types of situation where a cartel war is a very likely possibility.
One way for a cartel to remain strong is to ensure that its leader is never shot or captured, and faking his death/arrest makes that more likely.

Put his head on a stake and post it at the border, facing Mexico. Jailing him and putting him on trial is a waste of resources,,, not worth the effort.

You are so sure about your ignorance. That must be nice.

What's nice (and ) is mason66's belief that cops in Mexico prefer to get tiny federal salaries instead of that what the cartels pay them.
