Re: Mexico cartel chief 'El Chapo' captured alive, says US official

I'm currently in Zeta country. The opinion around here is that this either means war or calmer times ahead. There are rumors that the Templars from Michoacan are headed this way after failing to push back local civilian forces. Zetas are controlling the bigger cities in Nayarit and the Fiscal General of the state has links to organized crime. The possibilities right now: The Zetas could make a powergrab into the SC's turf if it shows any kind of weakness. With many Templars headed this way, there is also possible war with them. There is also the possibility of the Templars being crushed by both government, civilian and cartel forces before they get here.

Our best hope is for the Sinaloa Cartel to remain relatively strong. If they can do that, we'll avoid 3-4 types of situation where a cartel war is a very likely possibility.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK

All I can do at this point is cross my fingers and keep talking to the people I know to see if the winds are changing.

    Good luck in Zeta country.

I'll give the Zetas one thing, they've managed to keep this area relatively calm. Murders and kidnappings still occur but it's nowhere near what it was 2 years ago. I'm more concerned with the Templars coming this way. Dudes are ruthless and terrible for business.

The US is asking Mexico to send Chapo to them. That is funny. Mexico wants him first. He got away from them in 2001 and embarrassed them.

It will be interesting to see what happens fromhere.

Probably means nothing...someone else will just take his place.

As long as drugs are illegal...cartels will thrive...no matter what law enforcement does.

We all know how this works; his place has already been taken, probably by the person in his organization and with the help of the Mexican government. Moves like this don't happen without somebody pulling the strings.

The better reason is that we have learned twice now that prohibition doesn't work.

That's why you go out like Tony Montana, man. Saves you the indignity of the perp walk.

Now that we have established a basis, would you allow doping in sports?
