2 California men get prison time for severe beating of Giants fan - CNN.com

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Two California men were sentenced to prison Thursday for their roles in the severe beating of a San Francisco Giants fan after a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2011.
Marvin Norwood, 33, and Louie Sanchez, 31, were sentenced to four years and eight years, respectively.
Members of Stow's family appeared in court and made statements to the defendants and the judge during the sentencing.
Now brain-damaged as a result of the beating, Stow is disabled and unable to care for himself, said his father, David.

So in California two men can beat a man within an inch of his life over a baseball game, and get 4 and 8 years prison time.

The victim is breathing, but can't take care of himself. He's in diapers now.

Liberalism.

I don't know how that sentence would compare to other states . . . but it's wrong. Whatever "the degree" was, it doesn't take into account that they basically ended that young man's life. What a horrible tragedy.

How's that "Liberalism?"

Weighed in the criminal's favor. Can you imagine, though, if this was two white guys beating up a minority in California? It'd be a Braveheart torture scene carried live on CNN.

I think that's a bit partisan on your part. Just because it's "weighed in the criminal favor" that doesn't mean it's "Liberalism." It probably falls back on the prosecutor, judge, and jury, not a political ideology.

I think it's time we tried harder to understand the mindset of blacks in this regard. I think it's also fair to say, "Had they been black, they would likely have gotten the sentence they deserved."

I don't like the usual suspects whipping up the troops (Sharpton, Jackson et al), but if a black man thinks to himself, talks among friends and family, "Yeah, they'll find him guilty . . . he's black," I can hardly say I blame him.

Shame on the DA who offered them this deal. Travesty of justice. You see overzealous prosecutors take cases all the way on far less evidence than was available here. One of them is being released now. F-ers were smirking about it while the damn sentence was read. Judge should have charged them with contempt right there and gave them each another year!

Hope Karma sticks it and breaks it off these two douchebags.

If they were wealthy they would have gotten probation.

Conservatism.

That's right because conservatives seem to believe affluenza is an excuse for harming others.
