Fears of more protest clashes high in Venezuela

Funny, I didn't see where it said the US was behind it
Perhaps you weren't really looking.
Rear Admiral Carlos Molina, a central leader of the coup, later said that "We felt we were acting with US support... we agree that we can’t permit a communist government here. The US has not let us down yet."

Ain't liberal socialism grand?

What exactly do you think US support is? Could be just rhetoric.

Careful now - your dealing with the Euro-lefty view of world history. Which essentially can be summed up as follows: Everything bad that happens in the world is American's fault - and if it isn't, it's Israel's fault. It makes life so simple for them.

Venezuelan president you mean? I'm not all up on that area's history, and it could be so....don't know for sure, just SEEMS to be a more internal power struggle.
Thanks for the coup attempt remark, i'll have to goggle it.

Sorry, yes of course the pres. Of Venezuela.

You think Maduro is kicking the US out because of bad hygiene habits. Ok, sure.

It never ceases to amaze me what lengths people will go to excuse US government wrong doing, and then complain that people hate America.

The failed coup in Venezuela was closely tied to senior officials in the US government, The Observer has established. They have long histories in the 'dirty wars' of the 1980s, and links to death squads working in Central America at that time.
Washington's involvement in the turbulent events that briefly removed left-wing leader Hugo Chavez from power last weekend resurrects fears about US ambitions in the hemisphere.

I understand, you're on the side of socialist dictators and against a free people.

Ok, so what? Ooooh so dangerous...
Money's the most dangerous weapon there is. Ask the Koch brothers.

bet you'd be against radio free America too.

Never heard of it. Does it even exist? I've heard of Radio Free Europe, which is poorly listened to and seen as little more than anti-leftist propaganda. But Radio Free America, nope. Can you link us to their website? I'll give it a listen.

The Koch Bros.? I think a better example of a Billionaire meddling in sovereign national affairs would be Geo. Soros....But you won't do that because you agree with his ideological lean....So, let's hear it...Give me the propaganda on the Koch Bros. involvement, I need a good laugh this morning...

Yep, Radio Free Europe is what I meant....But I knew it....The bolded part shows your disdain for it....How transparent you are.

I think you've got more than a few million arms to spare your right-wing death squad buddies, and I don't think it would require anyone to seek the permission of the C-in-C before shipping them off. You can always get around stuff like that. Remember the Iran-Contra affair?

Yeah... stopping Communists is a terrible, terrible thing, for we know the Commie's are an upstanding lot that never whacked its opponents en masse. You probably would have been against shipping Finns arms so they could defeat the Soviets. What an upstanding lad you are.

Perhaps Obama has a few guns left over from his Fast & Furious program; one aimed at arming drug thugs, undoing our 2nd amendment, and got one of our border agents killed. Problem seems to be... Hugo's Venezuela is Obama's kind of place.

Me... I don't mind arming people fighting off oppressive regimes. It seems you do.

Really. Because I'm not on the side of the US instigating coups all around the world?? I assume you too think that the US has been charged with the task of righting the worlds wrongs? Except those in our own yard.

Funny, I thought as a good conservative you'd be all against government-controlled media. Just shows, you never can tell.

He's against just about everything that has the word 'america' in it.

Actually people in Eastern Europe quite liked it. Of course, unlike you, they got to live under the leftist Marxist utopia you modern day leftists admire so much.

You tell me? I don't see the UN asking the rest of the world's countries to give more treasure and man power. I too don't think we should be the world's police force, but I don't trash the U.S for doing so while defending despots either.

Trouble is, the list of horrific despots that the US (and plenty of other supposedly 'civilised' western countries) have supported enthusiastically is a long one. Here are just 10:

  • Jean-Claude Duvalier (Haiti)
  • Manuel Noriega (Panama)
  • Augusto Pinochet (Chile)
  • Chiang Kai-shek (China)
  • The Shah of Iran
  • Ferdinand Marcos (Phillippines)
  • Islam Karimov (Uzbekistan)
  • Charles Taylor (Liberia)
  • Francisco Franco (Spain)
  • Hosni Mubarak (Egypt)
Don't trash the Bolivarians for despotism when you've been active participants in totalitarianism the world over.
