It is contradictory: that self-interest serves for the common good. But it has worked when properly regulated.
Cutting the pay of those 100 employees is good for the business.

Obviously, our government doesn't operate as intended by the Constitution, so what's wrong with the rich getting more votes? The entire thing is skewed already, this would just be another patch on the problem of big government. Of course, we could always try to fix the government, instead of trying to patch things. The government has gone completely off the rails with spending our money.

The number of people in poverty will shrink and the middle class will grow when income starts rising from the bottom instead of just the top. The nobility that the sycophants on the right wing adore so much will still be richer than everybody else if the poor can actually earn enough money to survive without government assistance.
The bottom line is the rich control an extremely vast (and still growing) majority of the wealth in this country, poverty in increasing and the middle class is shrinking. You lack critical thinking if you cannot see how these things are connected. I don't care how many new millionaires there are every year. They are still an extreme minority, and even more people are becoming more and more impoverished and hopelessly entrenched in debt.
As long as there are people encouraged to take 'free' food stamps, a couple of years of unemployment, easy welfare and false injury claims, the lower and middle classes will shrink. It's not the fault of 'the rich' this is happening. In fact it iis 'the rich' who pay for most of this.

I don't. That's already been a means of excluding populations (still is) from citizenship, for often dubious reasons.

The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected.

The reason our government is so bloated and corrupt is the influence of private money from rich people and corporations. Our leaders (state and federal) have to represent their interests over the interests of the people. That's why we have such convoluted regulations, that's why our government spends so much money, that's why there is no actual party of small government. Every single politician has to be on the bankroll of moneyed interests, because anyone who doesn't will get buried in media campaigns to smear them and prop up their more complaint opponents. Those rich interests need less power over our government, not more.

Employees who perform poorly due to unhappiness are terminated and replaced with other, slightly more desperate unhappy employees.

Ponder this next time you get on a small regional commuter aircraft:

The guy in the right seat makes as much as the burger flipper at McDonald's and probably took on six figures in debt to get to where he is. Exactly how happy do you think that person is?
