It is their job to calculate inflation and make the information publicly available, it is the real statistics. Please tell me how the government is lying about inflation?

Not to worry. The poor can eat their health insurance policies. They won't even have to buy toilet paper.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics, which is "the government," calculates and publishes inflation statistics in all kinds of ways, one of which is the core CPI, which does not include food and energy costs. Although.....its not called lying.

I'm not using the CPI, I'm using the food part which 1.1%. The CPI includes fuel and food, the core index does not and that is the one economists care about.

I don't necessarily think you are wrong but I do think it takes a great deal of creativity, resourcefulness and time at the very least.

    I would love some examples.
Considering a box of Kraft mac n cheese makes 3 1/3 cup servings, those kids aren't eating much.

Tomato and American cheese sandwich on bread or toast would be a better alternative.

Tomato soup (without HFCS) and toast.

Chicken noodle soup (low sodium) with saltines.
Building block or stumbling block.... choose.

But still exist. Food pantries have not been slashed, actually more and more food pantries seem to be opening up around here because of the reduction in benefits.

Well, you didn't say that when you asked with what I responded to.....Right? Either way you were shown a way that the government can omit data.

Please quote where I said education only.

I believe information is the best source for people to make educated choices.

Since you haven't offered any other alternative methods of providing nutrition, I'll have to guess you have none to offer.

I'm not seeing any omission the CPI tells us what it is suppose to, the inflation of consumer goods, that is what legislation is based while economists and a central bank make decisions using the core index. They are also broken down and when I read the statistics in the news they show both and show the categories.

My daughter is actually studying nutrition as SFSU. She volunteers in low income communities to educate them about more nutritional low cost alternatives. It's not as easy as you think.
