Was anyone really thinking government wasn't cooking the numbers to try to placate the masses while stealing from us and giving to their corporate masters?

Kindly back up your '$16 a year' figure... I'd really love to see that.

That certainly is part of it. Our government destroys perfectly good food at a record pace, but at the same time this winter has been brutal and you can be assured that transportation costs have gone way up, with unnecessary fuel being used on idle in traffic, refrigerated trucks on overload, delays, spoilage of product.... Of course you have inflation, not to mention regulations and farm subsidies...

It's one big can of our federal government torturing their citizens just for the fun of it.

It would appear to be so. Many are true believers in big gov't (and what it tells them is so).

All I did was ask why I should feel sympathy for the wealthy. I think it's revealing that you can't find one reason why I should

SO I'll ask you again - Why should I feel bad for the wealthy?
You have decided that you shouldn't really care about what is being said about a group of people because they have money. Of COURSE you are judging people.

Republocrats will believe anything to keep their illusion of proper government alive. But it's been doing these sorts of things for decades. When was the last time the government told the truth? I sure as heck can't remember.

Yes but since the government is a wholy owned subsidiary of Corporate America and the 1% whose profits are soaring, it's pretty disingenuous to claim that corporate and 1%ers greed isn't the real reason the numbers are cooked to placate the masses.

So you still can't give me one good reason for why I should care about those poor, poor, wealthy CEO's and the injustice they face because someone on the internet doesn't like them

    How revealing!!

I wouldn't mind seeing how those figures were arrived at either. Businesses need to make a profit, and if both labor costs and wholesale food costs go up, causing retail food costs to follow, they are going to have to raise their prices. I don't see any way around that, unfortunately.

    Greetings, GottaGo.

Yes, the rising of Corporate Capitalism is the dynamic that causes the closure of economic mobility, entangles government and corporate body, and ultimately is cause of the problem. Greed is the main cause, the desire to install proper aristocracy with wealth contained in the hands as few as possible. But government is the one cooking the books to hide these dynamics. I didn't say that Corporate Capitalism and the rise to fascism isn't the real reason the numbers are cooked, rather that government is cooking them in order to placate the masses while stealing from us and giving to their corporate masters.
