Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat[W:600]

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

They use the dues money to support the Democratic Party. Not every worker views that as being in his or her interest.

They use the due money to support legislators who support them. Workers can opt out unlike stockholders in corporations. It's an uneven playing field for a reason.

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Why do you object to conservatives engaging in political action? If it's OK for your side, why not for the other?

Writing model legislation is another example of an uneven playing field!

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

"The UAW employee places the money in the basket or it gets the hose again"

I'm sure that's how progressives feel or believe they want to feel after situations like this.

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Not every worker in the corporation, which is a person, believes the hush money should go to a Koch-PAC .

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Blaming progress---ives for perceived Union wrongs, especially lately, will end up on the steaming pile of manure .:peace

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Volkswagon still wants the workers council, in spite of the Gulag GOPs .

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Spending money on candidates is the name of the game when it comes to politics and policies. Conservatives will stop at nothing to try and eliminate labors' voice.

Quite the contrary. The NLRB is trying its damnedest to eliminate anyone from contesting union organizing efforts and, look at this thread, union supporters decry Tennessee politicians who went public opposing the UAW.

Politicians should have no say in a company and its workers decision. They only got involved and did their darnest to scare the workers with lies for their own selfish reasons.

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Except non-union shops have excellent conditions and JOBS.
Especially when they're in an area of strong Union shops.

Think before you say these things.
Try taking your own advice.
Its just lefty dogma you are spouting.
And partisan hackery from you

VW's public position is politically useful in Germany. They are insulating themselves from the charge that they're taking jobs away from Germans to give to lower cost Americans. The workers' council would put management on the union side back home in Germany.:peace

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

The Tennessee legislature threatened the workers with no expansion money from them if they formed a Union.
The Senator, who may get his own ethics investigation over this,
said the night before the election that VW would get a new line of vehicles if the Union was turned down .

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

This is part of the cycle of things. People forget how hard it was to win what workers now enjoy and take for granted. Unions will continue to lose. Wages will remain stagnant or go down. The middle class loses ground compared to the wealthy. And the repression will someday become evident as the Gilded Age returns in all its horror. The violence of 1876 will repeat itself albeit in different manifestations. And then the unions will begin to rise again.

It is part of the cycle.

That's so unethical.

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Why no, there's nothing dishonest about you claiming that the union heads make $300,000+ salaries even though none of them do

Richard Trumka's total compensation is $302,000, and I don't begrudge him a single penny of it.

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

I have a problem with Trumka making that much for just representing the Union.
This is one area of Unions where we disagree, and I'm on the conservative side.

Pension systems with these salaries are unsustainable.
Your post directly supports why Detroit went down, and why Detroit was used against UAW in Tennessee .

You do believe in the First Amendment, right? Anybody can express their opinion for any reason whatsoever, don't you agree?

They used their money and power to instill fear with lies. There's nothing right about it.

Re: Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

Name me an organization that doesn't pay the president differently than those who work under him/her. Good luck.
Isn't that income inequality?

Do the Unions stop at anything to eliminate Conservative & Pub voices?
Have you seen the list of top political donors and who tops the list to the Dem Party?

Pro - union garbage is generally lies and fear mongering...

Name a policy they are trying to push to eliminate conservative voice:roll:

Really? So you are saying the company was lying and fear mongering saying they are still are pursuing the partnership with the UAW? Why would they lie?
