That's the main problem with the limited wars. What is it all about? What is the objective? If we don't know where we're going, how do we know when we get there?

Perhaps one day the Mid East will become peaceful and prosperous. Europe did, after all, after having fought among themselves for centuries, perhaps the same can happen in the Mid East.

But, thinking we can speed up the process by invading this nation or that with no clear idea what we're about isn't going to help.

Keeping the oil flowing is the objective. Anything else you see and hear is smoke and mirrors. A stable ME with governments firmly in control of their oil, supply rates and pricing is good for them and bad for others. The US hasn't spent 30 (really far more) years interfering in the Middle East because we're interested in hastening peace and prosperity. A united people are far more difficult to control, whereas a divided people will be preoccupied. One must conclude one of two things, either the policy for the Middle East is destabilisation, or we've had two incompetent administrations back to back.

It's taken 11 years to realize this? Of course get out of their ****, this is costing way too many American lives and dollars. **** the Middle East, let's just make our own energy....with hookers and blackjack. In fact, forget the energy.

I think that many people have an idea of what victory should look like, but the mistakes made were too grevious and stupid to allow this victory to be achieved.... In Iraq for every smart decision they made, they also made ten stupid ones.. The simple mistakes where units were sent into situations with Iraqis and not one American could speak or understand one word of their language.....A Government that should have been formed with equal members from both the Sunni and Shia factions, but wasn't...We supposedly won that war, so it should have been our decision on when, how or if we left....it really wasn't... Now they have a civil war with a resurgence of terrorist activities... This situation could and should not have been allowed to happen... We are not the police of the world, but we attacked them anyway...that gives us a responsibility for the results....
 
Does somebody think that Americans can plant a democracy seed in Iraq and leave and these people will water and nurture it until it grows into a beautiful bush?? Oil people!!
