Mayor Invites Volkswagen to Expand to Lansing

LANSING -- Will a new Volkswagen auto plant be the newest addition to Lansing? Republican lawmakers in Tennessee have threatened to take away VW's tax incentives if the workers vote to join the UAW.

Lansing mayor Virg Bernero says Volkswagen can just pack up and come to Lansing. The capital city is ready to welcome more UAW workers anytime.
And he is sending VW a formal information packet and invitation to relocate the plant from Tennessee to Michigan. If Tennessee doesn't want a union, then fine. Let VW go where it's wanted without conditions imposed by political idiots.

Why is it political idiocy to oppose destructive unionization, but political genius to welcome it back to the very state it practically destroyed?

VW doesn't think it is destructive. They are fine with it. And VW is a very profitable company, even though almost every one of it's plants throughout the world is unionized. So why don't you tell me how VW has been destroyed by the unions. And VW plants operate by committee, where workers and management get together, and do their planning with the workers involved in just about every facet of the business. That is VW's business model. The way I see it, Tennessee can either live with it, or let VW take their business elsewhere.

    Go, Lansing Michigan.

I was referring to your labeling opponents to the unionization as 'political idiots.' Or do you just refer to anyone who disagrees with you in that manner?

Recalling old news from years past and doing cursory research.... It seems this political theater is just that ... historically the unions have been voted down in the southern auto plants due to similar or better pay, benefits, and conditions sans union representation....

Lansing is not in the running for a plant.... Mexico is being considered....

It also appears that should the union again be voted down the politicians will be blamed rather than realizing that some employees no longer see benefit with unionization.
