Best story I've seen in weeks:

BAGHDAD — A group of Sunni militants attending a suicide bombing training class at a camp north of Baghdad were killed on Monday when their commander unwittingly conducted a demonstration with a belt that was packed with explosives, army and police officials said.

The militants belonged to a group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, which is fighting the Shiite-dominated army of the Iraqi government, mostly in Anbar Province. But they are also linked to bomb attacks elsewhere and other fighting that has thrown Iraq deeper into sectarian violence.

Twenty-two ISIS members were killed, and 15 were wounded, in the explosion at the camp, which is in a farming area in the northeastern province of Samara, according to the police and army officials. Stores of other explosive devices and heavy weapons were also kept there, the officials said.

Worthy of the other term for suicide bombers, FREDs.

For ****ing Retarded Explosive Devices. :)

"See this little button right here? Push it on a real vest, and you wind up in heaven with your 72 virgins. Here, I'll show you on this fake ves....."

Eight militants were arrested when they tried to escape, the officials said.

Sounds like a good start.

So I guess he was a pretty good teacher then.

I had no idea that donning an explosive, running into a crowd, and hitting the trigger required training.

I have, apparently, over estimated our opponent.

Right? I have to wonder as to why we're living in such fear and authorizing gross government force and power for a group of people who couldn't even figure out how to blow themselves up on their own. These aren't quite the intellectual masterminds we were lead to believe.

I feel terrible for this (but not really), but I still can't help but think about the Jeff Dunham skit with Achmed the Dead Terrorist.

"Jeff Dunham: [referring to the suicide bomber training camp] Is that a nice facility?
Achmed the Dead Terrorist: It used to be.
Jeff Dunham: What happened?
Achmed the Dead Terrorist: New guy. The idiot tried to practice.
Jeff Dunham: What did you guys learn from that?
Achmed the Dead Terrorist: Location, location, location."

Wow.

I'll bet that was a shock to that 'explosive expert', eh?

I'll bet that the won't try that again.

I'm not laughing. but I am shaking my head in disbelief.

An explosion big enough to kill that many people and draw the attention of the authorities? I wouldn't know how to make a suicide bomb that powerful. I'd probably only succeed in making a pipe bomb and blowing my own hand off or something.

Our government's expansion of powers is unwarranted, but I don't think our enemy is that toothless either.

Shouldn't this be in a best jokes and comedy thread ????

Irony at its best.

That's just too funny.
Karma for those b*stards

poetic justice. this is interesting from the OP :
Back at the liquor store in Baghdad on Monday evening, Mr. Hashim, in almost a celebratory mood, passed four bottles of Corona to a customer and took his money
I seem to remember liquor stores in Baghdad, before the Iraq war, but not afterwards..
This was a training camp for ISIS transiting to Syria? I wonder why suicide bombers are being trained for Syria?? ...not all up on suicide bombers in Syria, maybe Lebanon?

correction on the liquor stores:

With alcohol forbidden in Islam, Baghdad liquor stores have been attractive targets for these factions. In fact, many of liquor stores are staffed by religious minorities.

Although under Islamic tradition Muslims do not drink alcohol, in many parts of Baghdad, it is not uncommon to see people drinking alcohol at outdoor cafes and restaurants.

Within months of the 2003 U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein, liquor stores in Baghdad and elsewhere were bombed and shot up. Despite the attacks, the number of liquor stores and nightclubs in Baghdad flourished.

So I guess he was a pretty good teacher then.

HE wasn't expecting the MOSSAD to switch out the dummy suicide device with one laden with Semtex

"OHHHHH... so, you are supposed to THROW the bomb!!?!"

Was going to post that myself.

Achmed the Dead Terrorist

I don't think there's a more painfully unfunny "comedian" on the planet than Jeff Dunham.

The Achmed the Dead Terrorist skit was the first thing I had ever seen of him, our family loved it. We eagerly watched one of his full shows when it came on and were... disappointed. His other stuff is unwatchable.

Even the virgins would have nothing to do with these guys.
