    Ending Rape On Campus[W 228]

    Ending rape on campus
Student-led activists movement fights to end rape on campus - CNN.com

Well. I don't know exactly how this makes me feel. I read through the entire article and it is nice to see action. There is a problem and something needs to be done. For that I am happy.

But one of those incidents does not fit in with the rest. Espinosa's. I don't understand how that is rape? Maybe I misread it. But it just struck me somewhere as...odd. And. Maybe. A little bit off. Everyone else can someone explain that to me?

The Espinosa situation seems odd to me, also.

The remaining challenge might be solved by offering firearms training to all interested parties.... it would likely produce positive results.

I think ending rape on campus is an excellent idea.

It seems that defining rape is a prerequisite for that effort. Like Espinosa, I am struggling to make sense of her new definition of rape.

I'm not buying what Espinosa is putting down. Unless a man has you trapped in a house and is beating and or threatening you on a regular basis, you DON'T STAY!!

But Sandra Fluke like sex! Three or four times per day with different students! And since she's ugly, she just has to rape boys.

The schools where I live have Co-ed dormitories, though same sex (at least in theory) floors. The whole sexually liberated concept is only fuel for date rape or acquantiance (sp) rape situations.

Though these forms of rape will occur with same sex dorms, the amount of opportunities sky rockets if men have constant access to women's rooms. This is especially so as the women dont even have total control of their room: (Gee, why are you in my room? Because your roomate gave me permission and its her room to- Now, scoot over and have a drink...)

Nope, I can't explain how she would consider that rape. If she was a a child or mentally deficient, then maybe.

She doesn't mention anything like blackmail either, so I don't know how she thinks he coerced her into sex, being an adult female with no mental deficits.

Here is the key part and what makes it rape:

Yes, he was her boyfriend. No, he hadn't pinned her down, or threatened violence. But Espinosa insists that he coerced her, psychologically and physically, into having sex against her will for most of their three-year relationship.
Assuming her story is true, physically coercing some one into having sex is going to fall into the category of rape. There is an area that I am not sure exactly how well defined it is in law that is really sticky on the rape question, but physical coercion is pretty definitely rape.

What you wanna bet this young lady originally knew how this guy was and thought she could 'change' him? When that didn't work out, holler rape to get beck at him!

Hell he might of even thought she liked the way he acted towards her.
