This reminds me of the doom and gloom that was aggressively bantered about when smoking was eliminated in dining establishments.

My guess is that they will find something to fill that hole.

Yep, here's one that mentions these will be the places for ObamaCare recipients to go. [cause they're cheaper]

Might cost them millions or even billions a year but their CEO (I just heard him speak) said it was the right thing.
Meh, they can sell what they want (legal product of course). It's interesting, if they're really looking to promote an image of a healthcare company, then it's within reason to not sell tobacco products. It sounds like they know they'll take a hit and are willing to accept that to stand by the principle, so that's something.

I understand tobacco only amounts to 1.5% of gross sales. Considering the stigma, and this massive public relations boost, probably a reasonable move.

So when are they going to stop selling alcohol?

Alcohol is involved in something like half of all murders, and over half of all traffic fatalities.

It'd be the 'right thing to do', right?

Pointing out it may be a bad business decision doesn't mean someone's suggesting its wrong of them to be able to make the decision.

McDonalds should be free to stop selling fried food if they'd like....and me saying such a business move would be a poor one wouldn't counter such an idea

No problem with them doing it, though I think it's an entirely a business and PR decision as opposed to a health decision. If the health issues truly were driving it they'd stop selling their rack of candy, wall of sodas, and stacks of beer as well.

I do have an issue with a guy on local radio (I believe a representative, but missed the introduction) who suggested if Walgreens and other pharmacy stores didn't follow suit that he'd possibly submit legislation to force it.

Have no issue with a business doing this on their own, even if I may think its a poor decision. I would have issue if this became mandated.

Nah. This is becoming popular. In fact smoking cigarettes will be obsolete in America at some point.
