The UPS guy got quite a fright the first week of January. My fiance hadn't told me that we were expecting a package and I ended up answering the door at 8am on a Saturday in my robe and with a sword in my hand. I put it down and signed for the package in the vestibule, but not with the door open.

I've got enough space to make it work where I am, thankfully. The short sword is just not long enough in my mind and does not provide the same flexibility. To each their own I guess.

Given an option, I'd be even further separated from the public, but that's not an option at this time.

The logistics aren't reasonable on multiple levels.

No it isn't. After interviewing both the gun owner and the father, the man is in jail, and his bond is 25,000 bucks. Police departments are not exactly a bastion of liberals. Still, this is alleged, until after the man goes to trial or pleads out. However, the evidence appears to be pretty strong. LOL.

It's Kalifornia, the law is designed to harass gun owners by default.

There is no evidence, and that's why you haven't linked to it. There's no video, no audio, nothing. Maybe he pointed the gun, maybe he didn't, there's no evidence either way.

Too many questions arise for this to be a solid case, at least through the shoddy reporting in the LATimes that you posted...

    1. What kind of neighborhood was it?

    2. Was there recent crime in the neighborhood?

    3. Was the gun legally owned?

    4. Was this man an owner, or renter?

    5. Riverside Ca. although not overly unsafe, it has it's pockets, and the times being what they are, probably not a good idea to let your kid go door to door....I guess in CA. now, the right to defend your property is out the window.

We just don't know enough about this blurb of a story.

I'm fairly convinced that danarhea just wants guns banned and will post whatever headline smears gun ownership regardless of substance or lack there-of. That's the only thing which explains this thread.

My daughter has a collection of kitchen knifes, razor sharpened with diamond cutting blades, she can dual wield meat cleavers and chop an intruder's head off in one stroke. My chihuahua is always ready in her battle garb with snout scream barking at 140db to flash bang the intruder's ears.

The other day the lawn people showed up and we unfortunately had to take them out. I opened the door and saw that he was a Mexican, instinctively we all fired immediately. My bullets cut him down, daughter decapitated him and wife dismembered what was left with the chainsaw. His wife in the Blazer tried to get away but we got her with our RPG. We feel kind of bad but... this is a dangerous world and we had to do what we had to do to keep our family safe.

Seriously, you guys that think your hysterical reactions to a girl scout or otherwise at the door are reasonable, you either need to be on medication or move to a safer neighborhood.
Speaking of needing medication, when you last take yours? Read your own post.

Personally, I don't answer the door beyond a certain hour in the day and I don't ever answer the door unless I know who's knocking - partly because I hate people selling or collecting door to door.
Neither do I, especially if they have a clip board or pamphlets.

Are you suggesting this didn't happen? Come to my door, my chihuahua will tear your glasses off.

Show where I have ever said I wanted guns banned. You won't find it, but you will find that every single post I have made on the issue is in support of gun ownership. Of course, you already knew that from discussions in the past before you personally attacked me with that lie.

The only thing that really pisses me off more than hyperpartisans who personally attack me is damn liars who do it.
