Christie Knew About Lane Closings, Ex-Port Authority Official Says

I will wait until the evidence is shown, but for a lifelong friend of Christies to say that the Governor knew about the closures, it adds to the validity of the statement.

The idea that Winestein was a lifelong friend has been debunked, btw. They were friends, but from all accounts, not lifelong but about a decade long. Additionally, it's been pretty clear since Winestein's testimony, or lack thereof, to NJ Senate committee that he had evidence against Christie and perhaps others since he took the 5th and then his lawyer proceeded to announce that he'd be way more talkative if he got immunity.

Glad he finally came forward regardless of immunity, or so it seems, but not at all surprised he did. It was either going to be him or the gal, Kelly, who Christie not only threw under the bus, but also demeaned by calling her stupid and a liar upon her dismissal.

The article said they went back to high school.

If this is true that Christie knew about the lane closings when they were happening - he is finished as far as any national office goes and perhaps even in Jersey. of course, the Governor may be singing that anthem by one of Jersey's best - BRING ON YOUR WRECKING BALL.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

He has admitted to knowing lanes were closed, everyone did. What he denies is knowing why.

I thought for sure if anyone threw him under the bus, it would have been her. But I still reserve judgment until I see the actual evidence. Plus, Christies response should be telling.

The article isn't saying he knew about them, but that he ordered them.

The article is very convoluted and seems to jump to conclusions and try to interpret words in a way they see fit. I read it over a couple of times and it is an example of some very poor journalism.

Perhaps that's what the article says, but the letter from Wildstein only says that there is proof Christie knew about it at the time, contrary to what he's been saying in public. It still doesn't say that he ordered it, mainly it's saying he's been lying about since then.

It has also come to light that a person within the Christie administration
communicated the Christie administration's order that certain lanes on the George
Washington Bridge were to be closed, and evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie
lo having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were
closed, contrary to what the Governor stated publicly in a two-hour press
conference he gave immediately before Mr. Wildstein was scheduled to appear
before the Transportation Committee. Mr. Wildstein contests the accuracy of
various statements that the Governor made about him and he can prove the
    inaccuracy of some.
from the pdf of Wildstein's letter

Read the letter, it's pretty clear. Summerwind was right, I jumped the gun by saying he ordered it. The letter states that Mr. Christie knew about the closures, even when he was saying he didn't.

That could be a problem for him but if he had no hand in ordering the closures it is not an insurmountable one. Don't get me wrong I'm not defending the RINO I just see no evidence he was part of the plan so far.
