Christie Knew About Lane Closings, Ex-Port Authority Official Says

I will wait until the evidence is shown, but for a lifelong friend of Christies to say that the Governor knew about the closures, it adds to the validity of the statement.

The idea that Winestein was a lifelong friend has been debunked, btw. They were friends, but from all accounts, not lifelong but about a decade long. Additionally, it's been pretty clear since Winestein's testimony, or lack thereof, to NJ Senate committee that he had evidence against Christie and perhaps others since he took the 5th and then his lawyer proceeded to announce that he'd be way more talkative if he got immunity.

Glad he finally came forward regardless of immunity, or so it seems, but not at all surprised he did. It was either going to be him or the gal, Kelly, who Christie not only threw under the bus, but also demeaned by calling her stupid and a liar upon her dismissal.

The article said they went back to high school.

If this is true that Christie knew about the lane closings when they were happening - he is finished as far as any national office goes and perhaps even in Jersey. of course, the Governor may be singing that anthem by one of Jersey's best - BRING ON YOUR WRECKING BALL.

I thought for sure if anyone threw him under the bus, it would have been her. But I still reserve judgment until I see the actual evidence. Plus, Christies response should be telling.

The article isn't saying he knew about them, but that he ordered them.

The article is very convoluted and seems to jump to conclusions and try to interpret words in a way they see fit. I read it over a couple of times and it is an example of some very poor journalism.

Perhaps that's what the article says, but the letter from Wildstein only says that there is proof Christie knew about it at the time, contrary to what he's been saying in public. It still doesn't say that he ordered it, mainly it's saying he's been lying about since then.

It has also come to light that a person within the Christie administration
communicated the Christie administration's order that certain lanes on the George
Washington Bridge were to be closed, and evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie
lo having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were
closed, contrary to what the Governor stated publicly in a two-hour press
conference he gave immediately before Mr. Wildstein was scheduled to appear
before the Transportation Committee. Mr. Wildstein contests the accuracy of
various statements that the Governor made about him and he can prove the
inaccuracy of some.

Read the letter, it's pretty clear. Summerwind was right, I jumped the gun by saying he ordered it. The letter states that Mr. Christie knew about the closures, even when he was saying he didn't.

That could be a problem for him but if he had no hand in ordering the closures it is not an insurmountable one. Don't get me wrong I'm not defending the RINO I just see no evidence he was part of the plan so far.

I'm shocked.

No not really. :popcorn2:

That's what I am waiting for, actual evidence. That, and his response to Wildstein.

Maybe he could hug Obama again and walk around holding hands. That would be pleasant for him.

I really doubt there will be any real evidence. It is highly unlikely he would have signed an order to close the bridges or even send memos out. If anything this would have been a conversation.

Basically it will come down to which liar do you believe.

I was actually hoping Christie would run in 2016; if he did, I would have considered voting for him. No matter what happens from now on, his potential nomination is toast.

Either he knew about the plan to close lanes on the bridge and approved them, or he doesn't have a clue what's going on outside his office door. Either way, not presidential material. Pity. :(

Christie has a problem. Whether it's insurmountable or not remains to be seen. If he knowingly lied it starts to rise to the level of a Benghazi-like thing. Perhaps not in substance, but it certainly casts his overall veracity in question, and is a disqualifier for higher office in my view. I'm anxious to see if Christie borrows the administration's fog machine. We'll see. The long knives are out now, and he could be politically gutted.

I wouldn't count him out. Hell, Hillary still sits atop the polls for the democrat nomination and she has Benghazi hanging over her head.

It only hangs over her head to Republicans. Other people dont subscribe to the wild conspiracy.

Now it's getting reaaal meaty. And nasty.

Update
: Christie going on offensive over accusation......
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is going on the offensive after a former loyalist said he has evidence the Republican governor knew more than he has admitted about an apparently politically motivated traffic jam ordered by one of his staffers last year.

The governor's political team sent an email Saturday to donors, along with columnists and pundits who might be in a position to defend Christie, bashing the man Christie put in a top post at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the accusations the man's lawyer made in a letter Friday.

The email says the former Port Authority official, David Wildstein, "will do and say anything to save David Wildstein."

Christie's team noted that Wildstein did not present any proof to back up the claims his lawyer, Alan Zegas, made in the letter. The email also denies that Christie knew about the traffic jam or its political motive until after it was over and bashes Wildstein on a variety of fronts, characterizing him as a litigious teenager, a controversial mayor of Livingston, where Christie and Wildstein attended high school together, and for his past career as an anonymous political blogger.....snip~

Yahoo!

Here is the email Christie released:

http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/MSNBC/Sections/NEWS/Christie-email.pdf

When he throws a guy he created a special position for and hired to be his "eyes and ears" under the bus, he backs up and runs him over again. And does wheelies.

I'm wondering if Christie was drunk when he approved that email.

It's a fascinating and truly bizarre offensive.

He goes on to smear upside and back Wildstein, going back to (really Governor?) high school social studies class (yes, really) - and basically says Everyone knows what a scumbucket and deceptive man David is -- been that way for a long time

--that's why I hired him and placed him in a top position at the Port Authority.

And to prove my claim that Wildstein is lying about me and is a nogoodfornothing skunk, please refer to the article I have herein linked which describes David as "my eyes and ears inside the Port Authority."
