Well, that's your opinion CC, and I understand that. I don't think that it is totally wrong to look at points in history, and see what happened to lead up to the horrors in order to learn, and when I see things that are similar in terms of culture, and events, then it is proper to compare and see if we are traveling down that road again. Apparently you on the other hand find the comparison embarrassing for the segment of society that are preaching the hatred toward a small portion of society in this country that is similar to sentiments expressed by Jewish society in Germany. Although I would say that instead of Perkins comparing it to the '30s I would have said that late '20s would have been more spot on....That was when economic times were suffering in Germany, and the rhetoric blaming societies ills of the time were blamed on those that had means, in many cases then, the Jewish population.

As far as slander towards the rich, there is just as many attacks and slander towards the poor... and towards others. I have no sympathy towards either group.
Really? For the life of me, I can not think of one protest rally that took over large sections of major cities, with police at the ready, where the participants spoke of the poor in ways that they should just kill themselves....

I find it interesting that you would say that I find the comparison "embarrassing". That's not the word I would have used. "Idiotic" is one. "Hyperbolic" is another. "Hackish" is another. Yeah, words like that. Nothing close to "embarrassing. You also might want to do a little bit of studying on the rise of the Nazi party and why the Jews were targeted. Wealth was only one of many reasons. Further, you can't make the comparison without looking at the progression. No, j-mac, the comparison is "idiotic", "hyperbolic", and "hackish". Nothing more.

Really? Where did I confine by comments to rallies? Read what people at DP say about the poor. Then you'll have your answer. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Plenty of comments from outside of DP, too. Rallies? Think outside the box you created, j-mac.

So, you think your own description was hyperbolic, and hackish? We agree on that then.

Secondly, you have to define "poor".

No, I find the comparison in the OP to be hyperbolic, idiotic, and hackish. I'm certain I was clear about that.

Secondly, you have to define "poor".
I don't need to as it isn't my argument. It's the argument of those who have supported the hyperbolic, idiotic, and hackish OP. I use THEIR definition.

Oh, I am aware of how you "feel" about the comparison.

Do we really need to go through a long back and fro dissecting your semantics?

I'm on my phone so I won't do that now.

Nah, what would it accomplish? Your dissections won't get you anywhere. Will they convince me that they are incorrect? No. Will they convince you that you are incorrect? No. We could put on the show, but I'm not sure what the purpose would be.

I don't think anyone in here is here to change a mind, do you?

Actually, I think some people are, which is pretty misguided. I know I absolutely am not. Not only is it a fairly useless endeavor, but it really isn't the purpose of debate. The real purpose of debate is to present your own argument as well as possible, while simultaneously thrashing your opponent's argument. Altering someone's opinion has nothing to do with it.
