Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi [W:185]

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

As jmotivator already pointed out, Nazi Germany didn't just erupt in Krysatal Nacht as a spontaneous event, it was a build up of years of demonetization that preceded it....
Ehhh...from the get go the Nazi's used violence and intimidated and were willing to use undemocratic methods to try and gain power.

You don't have to look to Nazi Germany (which is just not accurate period) to see a time when anti-rich/anti-big banking sentiment was high in the US. Just look to the Great Depression. No concentration camps for rich people. Just higher taxes and more regulations for banks.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi perse...

I am sure it was obvious to everyone else.

 good one! Right on par with Pee Wee Herman.

I disagree, human nature never changes. There were even armed marches on washington back then, something that didn't occur today.

Maybe there should be...You progressives would probably have convulsions at the sight of an openly carried gun.

The object lesson of Iraq will always remain. Regardless if it were progressives, I will (and currently) do regard it the exact same way (remember, even the term liberal is considered derogatory by many in this country), there is no credible threat nor is there actionable evidence that something like the FBI should look into.

If you want to continually look like someone who just can't let some things go, then by all means, but it doesn't make your argument look any better. As for the FBI, I doubt that Holder's DoJ would do anything to look into crimes committed by groups he ideologically agrees with....Isn't it sad when the Atty Gen. Office is politicized?

I agree with Nasa?

Oh come on, you know what I was saying....Now who's being obtuse?

also this: Wait until "rich" is described as what you have. is not a complete sentence, i have no idea what you are trying to say, but I am sure its just more overly emotional goobledygook

ok, I don't believe that you don't know what I was saying but let me re phrase....Wait until your level of income, and or what you own is considered to be more than what someone else has, or unfair, then you may not feel like you do now. Is that better?

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

now stop putting words in my mouth. i'll make sure that the back stoop is concrete, and i'll be courteous enough to ring the doorbell.

Hey, your the one that said you'd place a burning substance on his porch....Now unless you can control fire as you run away, then the potential for a house fire exists, and you'd be responsible....

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi perse...

Iraq was a war we should not have fought and we fought it for the wrong reasons, so yeah it is a big deal.

Wrong thread.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

Rich people feel demonized? Who the hell cares? Go buy a Lexus and get on with your life. No ones coming for you. Not yet.

Uh huh....

just pointing out the obvious ;)

Tell that to the revolver in my closet or to my girlfreind, whom she and I are discussing taking pistol classes this year.

The FBI takes terrorism very seriously and so does homeland security. A mass action like this would be considered terrorism. However, there is a huge difference between background grumbling, which is always going on (the NSA calls it chatter, I think) and something actionable.

Oh come on, you know what I was saying....Now who's being obtuse?

Yes, you are making the illogical statement of me not being concerned meaning I am for it. I was making fun of it because if you are not determined to be logical there is no point in using logic against your argument, making it worthy of dismissal.

My level of income has already achieved that threshold.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

Uh huh....

America hardly has a revolutionary consciousness. It hasn't in a long time. It probably won't again for a long time. Maybe it will take another depression, or another collapse similar to what happened in 2007-2008. But these "liberals and progressives" do not pose any real threat. You're giving them far too much credit.

I don't think Holder does take it seriously....Tell me, what happened to the NBP for intimidating voters in '08? What happened to NBP for calling for, and putting out a bounty poster with reward on George Zimerman's head? Nothing, or very little.

There are usually two reasons for apathy, 1. it doesn't touch your life, so you don't care, or 2. you agree with the actors being discussed, so you don't fear their repercussions, I think #2 is the most likely with you.

My level of income has already achieved that threshold.

Yeah, yeah, I know....You and Trump have houses in Florida in the same neighborhood, and all by the age of 23...Your a regular wiz kid, and a billionaire that's why your on an anonymous political web site wasting time....

Maybe....Maybe not. No harm talking about it though.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi perse...

What do you expect from a nation that was formed by Nazis?

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs."
- Thomas Jefferson

"“I hope that we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.” - Thomas Jefferson

Finally, there seem to be but three Ways for a Nation to acquire Wealth. The first is by War as the Romans did in plundering their conquered Neighbours. This is Robbery. The second by Commerce which is generally Cheating. The third by Agriculture the only honest Way; wherein Man receives a real Increase of the Seed thrown into the Ground, in a kind of continual Miracle wrought by the Hand of God in his favour, as a Reward for his innocent Life, and virtuous Industry. - Benjamin Franklin

As riches increase and accumulate in few hands, as luxury prevails in society, virtue will be in a greater degree considered as only a graceful appendage of wealth, and the tendency of things will be to depart from the republican standard. This is the real disposition of human nature; it is what neither the honorable member nor myself can correct. It is a common misfortunate that awaits our State constitution, as well as all others.
Alexander Hamilton

The great object [of political parties] should be to combat the evil: 1. By establishing a political equality among all. 2. By withholding unnecessary opportunities from a few, to increase the inequality of property, by an immoderate, and especially an unmerited, accumulation of riches. 3. By the silent operation of laws, which, without violating the rights of property, reduce extreme wealth towards a state of mediocrity, and raise extreme indigence towards a state of comfort. - James Madison

I am disappointed in your cavalier attitude. It is just this sort of crap that leads a segment of our country to believe that they may be in some level of threat as time goes on....But to you it seems all like a big joke. What I am doing here is pointing out that regardless of ones level of status or income in this nation, why should they be threatened?

It is sick.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

"Feel Sorry"? no...But clearly you have some sort of animosity toward those better off than you, otherwise you'd not be mocking them.

I'm not mocking people better off than me. I'm mocking a billionaire who is crying that he's being mistreated, comparing his treatment to that of the Jews in Nazi Germany for heaven's sake! How absurd is that?

Yes, I like to mock the absurd, it's true.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

I still can't figure out what we're even arguing about here. Is j-mac defending the quote or just trying to say it isn't as bad as people are claiming?

the NBP incident was classified as voter intimidation, not terrorism. Also a bounty for someone is not terrorism, if zimmerman had been killed, it could be called accessory to murder, if not it is a conspiracy to murder.

In neither case was the goal to affect public or legal policy.

Here is the definition of terrorism as the FBI defines it for your reference so you don't make this mistake again.

"Domestic terrorism" means activities with the following three characteristics:

Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and
Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
.

I choose door #3, there is no credible threat or logical reason to be concerned as the probability as I can judge it, is quite low in regards to something happening. Some guy on the internet telling me to be concerned is not a legitimate reason without evidence to back it up.

If someone's sayso was all it took, I have two words: Alex jones.

Yeah, yeah, I know....You and Trump have houses in Florida in the same neighborhood, and all by the age of 23...Your a regular wiz kid, and a billionaire that's why your on an anonymous political web site wasting time....

I didn't say I was rich, I said I make enough that some would deem too much. For example, the grumblings of the hourly production workers at the factory I work in. They are quite jealous of what I make I get the "sure must be nice" comment all the time.

I can't say I agree with him fully, although, there is something in the air concerning progressives that is disconcerting to say the least...The outright hate for those who have made lots of money, rooted in mostly jealous rage could boil over, but I don't think we are there now...What he says is spot on though.

"Agree with him fully?" Ugghhh... yeah, what's happening to the wealthy in the United States (everything they want from Congress) is at least partially like what happened to the Jews in Europe during the Third Reich.

Unprecedented wealth inequality in the United States damaging our economy and high over representation of corporate interests in Washington and something's wrong with progressives. Yep.

J-Mac finds that he tends to do better when he sticks to fuzzy premises. When he starts threads based on factual claims that can be looked into and discredited, he tends to fare poorly.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

If criticizing the rich is called nazism, what is it called when the right criticized LGBT's?

His technique is to stay in the offensive, make any accusation he can (no matter how silly) and to try to get his debate partner off balance.

He can be amusing for a while, but he eventually gets boring as he isn't much of a challenge.

At some pint he will make a point worth making. I want to be here to congratulate him when it eventually happens.

Feminism!!

i'm not threatening any rich people. i just said that that guy deserves to step in flaming poo for comparing his "plight" to that of the Jews in Nazi Germany. and on Holocaust Remembrance Day, no less. if his Barker Black Ostrich Cap Toes get a little soiled, well, that's just the way it goes in Nazi Germany.

These guys just tend to live in an entitled world where it's very uncomfortable for them to not get their way as it happens so rarely. They tend to not know how to process it in any way approaching a realistic perspective.

i guess perspective is everything. i do find it hard to believe that this dude's perspective is so out of whack that he compares his life to that of a Jew living in Nazi Germany, though. i guess money really doesn't buy happiness.

but it does buy an XKE.

A truism I figured out about life is that success simply breeds the desire for more. The brain does a great job in getting used to and eventually dissatisfied with good things and a terrible job with bad stuff.

Expectations that seem crazy can easily become normal and most people are never satisfied. It's why counting your blessings is important.

So yeah, for those who have it all, a minor discomfort can be all consuming.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

Taxes =/= Persecution

There are no parallels to be drawn. A bunch of hippies protesting is not Kristalnacht.
facepalm...

The parrellel is the dangerous undertone of SCAPEGOATING one group for the use of politcal gain by another.....

does that really need to be explained...

how come they dont blame the "stupid and ignorant" for their plight? butsomehow its "the evil rich"?? ... this sounds very much like what happened to the Jews.. only the blind cant see it
