Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti
You misunderstand us. We don't hate the wealthy. We genuinely admire those who have a great idea (as long as it's not evil) and profit from it. We do believe, though, that it's impossible to earn more than a certain amount. Beyond that it's not earned income, it's a windfall. We even still believe that they should be able to keep an admirable chunk of this windfall. But it should be taxed quite heavily.
First of all define "evil"? Now, let me tell you, there is something called incentive, are you familiar? People take huge risk financially and most don't make it....But of those that do, of those that put everything they have up for risk, work night and day to do everything they can to insure that their idea makes it, from 20 hour work days, to working 7 days a week to make it work, then they employ people, and you come in and say that after all the blood, sweat, and tears they should only make what YOU think they should? And the rest be taken? Are you kidding me? If that were the case what is the incentive to go through that?
The reason for that is that we realize that having more and more of society's wealth concentrated into fewer and fewer hands wil --and must-- undermine society. We insist, therefore, on some effective societal mechanism for redistribution. "Trickle down" is not too bad a way to put it. We just don't trust those with the wealth to control the 'valve'. Not that they're evil by definition. They're simply not objective about it. (We'd have the same problem if we were in their shoes)
Ineffectual, lazy, and intellectually void of any ethic is how I would describe what you are saying here. So, you are saying that you had nothing to do with the building of the idea, you didn't risk a thing, and you don't want to do anything other than determine that the amount someone achieves in wealth is too much in your mind for them to have because you don't have that much, so you want to use government force to take it and give it to you. What a sad commentary you are laying out here....Why don't you come up with your own idea, and put in what it takes to make it yourself, then I am sure your attitudes would change, and you wouldn't want some snot nosed 20 something coming along and telling you that you owe them something for becoming successful....
We don't hate. We're not conducting warfare. We merely recognize that the wealth must be spread and must be spread deliberately. Not all of it. Not at all. A certain percentage? Yes.
No, you didn't make it, you don't deserve it. And you are hating, and whispering warfare. When you have others around you in your 'eat the rich' campaign talking about, 'if they won't give it to us, we'll take it.' It's pathetic, and if you were my kid, I'd wonder where I went wrong.
And if anyone asks me to name that percentage, I won't do it. It's not up to me. I'm not competent to calculate it.
Ofcourse you won't, because much like a petulant child, that has never learned to play with others, you see something that someone else has, and you think because you don't have it that it is unfair, because you want it...When our little children display that kind of behavior we as parents (hopefully) don't reward it, obviously some have....Now your adults that still have that mentality and it will destroy a country if we let it....
