Controversial bill to expand religious protections advances

It is a good thing that we keep religion out of our nations governance, we should also make sure to keep liberals like you from using government to stick their nose in religion....Works both ways there pal.

Here's the problem - too many on the right see efforts to restrain the imposition of specific religious beliefs on all Americans as "liberals ... using government to stick their nose in religion"

Ah yes, when someone has no argument, resort to calling them a "liberal"

Weak and sloppy debate skills.

As a wise person recently observed: At what point did "Whatever two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home is no concern of yours" turn into "BAKE ME A GODDAM CAKE MO**ERFU**ER!"?

Also, Pro-Tip: Never eat something you forced someone to make for you.

A perfect example of "Doode! You really don't get it, man!"

Who named you arbiter of framing the debate? Funny I didn't see you standing up for the little sisters of the poor wishing not to have to pay for contraceptive services.

You mean like posting a picture instead of using your own words?

If the words match my feelings, there is nothing wrong with that. When you have to resort to screaming "liberal" you already lost the debate.

Well this statement tells me you know nothing more than the propaganda about that story. The Little Sisters of the Poor were not ordered to pay for contraceptive services. Do a bit of non-biased reading to find the true story.

I see, anything that runs contrary to your conclusion is propaganda.

You don't get to declare that.

You think that someone should, by virtue of wealth and owning stuff, be able to punish someone for their religious affiliation?

Punish?

Another example of just why political conversations so often turn into circle spinning. I post, "Do a bit of non-biased reading to find the true story." and the response seemingly says I don't care what I read or hear that contradicts my beliefs because I KNOW THE TRUTH!"

Why would gays want to belong to an organisation which thought they were bad people? You don't see many blacks signing up for the KKK. I just don't get. Gays, stop beating this dead horse. It's their tree house they can hang a "no X allowed" sign if they want. Don't like it, don't go there, I know I won't and I'm not gay. No problem.

Yeah, why would blacks want to go to a white school, women to work in a "men's job", a Muslim to work in Christian establishments etc etc. Everyone should stick to their group and then there wouldn't be discrimination.

No one cares what your take on myself personally is, and you would do better with a more honest argument that doesn't aim to tell others what they are saying/thinking....I know though, arrogance among progressive/socialists knows no bounds.

Just think
Jews refusing Catholics and Catholics refusing Muslims. The list goes on and on.
While religious freedom is a wonderful thing, it can also come and bite you in the arse.

Why is that bad?

YOU made a statement (paraphrase) "Obamacare is trying to make the Little Sisters of the Poor pay for contraception services"

I posted a link

You refused to accept a factual statement and then turn my followup into a personal attack on you.

One more time "Another example of just why political conversations so often turn into circle spinning. I post, "Do a bit of non-biased reading to find the true story." and the response seemingly says I don't care what I read or hear that contradicts my beliefs because I KNOW THE TRUTH!"

Why is pointing out that a statement made was untrue seen as "arrogance"?

also - Alexis de Tocqueville never wrote your sig.

And it would have been an open and shut case with no defense whatsoever if they had been reading any other book besides the bible. That this was even a controversy demonstrates exactly the special protections that religion gets. As Somerville showed, the family got their money back. They were allowed to violate the law, solely because they were violating it for religious reasons. That's completely unacceptable.

People should be able to gather in their house and read nearly any book they want. Want to study the torrah? Great. Anyway, you said no such case existed and now we have learned of at least one - and it was just one that I recall.. That the law was later changed doesn't negate the point that they were being discrimated against..

That's seriously messed up. You think that someone should, by virtue of wealth and owning stuff, be able to punish someone for their religious affiliation? I will never understand the pro-aristocracy mindset that so many conservatives have.

Yes, the owner of the business should have the right. A satanist owns a retail store and only wants to work with other satanists? Great! His right.
