Gov. Cuomo: Pro-life people not welcome in New York

Cuomo absolutely must have brain damage to make a statement like this. These people that he thinks don't belong in NY, are taxpayers. There are plenty of them. I think he's missing a chromosome.

Exactly, and he didn't just talk about pro-life people. His quote was: "right to life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay conservatives have no place in the state of New York". I heard the interview and he said it in a super condescending fashion, including the ending where he continues with, "that's not who New Yorkers are". If I was in New York I'd be outraged. Make me angry as somebody who's not even in NY. I'm not pro-life and in the middle on the gay issue, so the only thing I really disagree with is his assault on the 2nd Amendment. Regardless it's a ridiculous statement and I hope he's held accountable.

Your right he said way worse. here is the exact comment from the interview that he did.

"Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves," he said. "Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are."

And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

I didn't know standing up for the constitution would be considered extreme. I guess the founding fathers were extremists then and I would be proud to be considered one.

the left's bigotry continues to roll on unabated and none of them are ever held accountable for any of it.

PS Cuomo is now on the retreat and trying to do damage control. personally I think it is to late. the damage is done. why liberals support trash like that yet continue to spout how open minded they are is the biggest irony of them all.

saying that people that believe other than the way that he does are not welcome in NY is forcing his views on people, or do you not understand this simple bit of logic.

You said that he doesn't like people trying to force their religious views on people.

well the same goes for him or you does it not? yet you don't seem to mind him forcing his views on people by saying anyone that disagree's with his views are not welcome in NY because that isn't who NY are.

that is a pretty narcissistic to say you know exactly who NY people are and they are only people that agree with what you believe. that is basically what he said.

no different than attempting to force people to accept it and not only accept it but make it a criminal act not to accept it.
yet that is exactly what is being done and I don't see you having a problem with it.

First off, he asks the whole bit as a question: "Is that who they are?"

And, second off, he references the conservative extremists who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, and anti-gay. He does not single out pro-lifers.

The thread title is a lie. The op and the Fox article are both simply more RW poutrage.

this is just a strawman and nitpicking. which means there is no argument here from you.

sorry those are not conservative extremists. that is the definition of the average American.

just to let you know without special licensing owning an assault rifle is illegal. also in order to own an assault rifle it has to be made before 1980 I do believe. it also requires a lvl 3 arms license.
which requires federal background checks among a whole list of other things.

What he is referring to is not an assault rifle. it is a semi-auto rifle that is made to look like an assault rifle. an assault rifle is defined by having a selector switch which allows the gun to operate either as a semi auto, 3 round burst or full auto.

I am pro-life. I think there are many other viable options for unwanted babies vs abortion. I don't go around shooting people or advocating that it be done.

If you are going to promote that "study", you must have a point. Let's hear it. You linked to some data, so what is the point?

You can also throw this in with your data, Fox is by far and away the highest rated cable news network. So, I guess what you are saying, is that this is one of those rare instances where the worst product is the most successful. Or you have a different look at it?

No. It's typical of the Right. Take a statement out of context, twist a few words so that the meaning fits their worldview and then scream bloody murder and pretend to be offended--known as poutrage.

so just to be clear, if a Mississippi Governor made the statement: “extreme liberals who are for abortion, who hate guns, who want homosexuals to marry—if that’s who they are they’re the extreme liberals, they have no place in the state of Mississippi because that’s not who Mississippians are.”

If that had been said, and all the liberals lost their COLLECTIVE MINDS(which I know with 100% certainty they WOULD), YOU would tell the left that they were "twisting a few words so that the meaning fits their worldview and then scream bloody murder"?!?!

tell me you would do that because I haven't used the term "bloody liar" in a while. (by the way I stole that hypothetical from Peggy Noonan's blog).
