I am just now getting over a very nasty case of bronchitis made all the worse for being a smoker for over 30 years. I would be out of breath(still am some) just walking across the room. And yet every hour or so I had to step out and have a smoke, coughing terribly every time I inhaled. While increased costs and programs help people to quit, the big thing is to do everything in our power to keep people from starting. It is ever so much easier that way.

Couldn't agree more. The best way to stop smoking is to not start to begin with. I started when I was 13 because it was cool, and in Canada at the time, you could smoke literally anywhere except banks. So what my friend and I did was wait outside the bank near our school, and when people would put their half smoked cigs out in the sand ash tray, we would grab them and smoke them.. yes even the one's with bright red lipstick on them.. So gross now thinking about it. I bought my first pack shortly there after, Menthol I think, and haven't looked back. It is extremely addictive and the best I've been able to do over the years is smoke ultra light cigs, and I put them out half way through because I read somewhere once that all the bad stuff is near the filter, and the closer you get to that the worse off. Not sure if there's any truth to that claim but it works for me.

Never start, and once you get to an age where reason trumps stupidity, you'll never pick up the habit, IMO. How often do you hear about someone over age 25 picking up the habit? Very rare..

Actually Ecigs are mainly sourced from small, independent companies. AFAIK only Blu is a Big Tobacco product.

Chicago, NY and L.A. are the 3 most overbearing cities in America. They loves them their micromanagement and I thank The Flame that I don't live in any of them. We're a bit mellower in Las Vegas.

    $4? Dang, here they're more like $7.50

I don't think Ecigs are getting the same hate. Sure, there are some very vocal opponents but even more are te ones who had family (like me) that are grateful that we were offered salvation.

I really hope you'll give Ecigs a try. If they worked for me, a hopeless addict, they might just do the job for you.

More nanny BS showing the greatest harm to smokers may indeed be the government and non-smoking fanatics.

There's really no point in rehashing this information anyway. People will smoke if they want to. You can tell them not to, how stupid they are to do it, etc. until you're blue in the face.

In my mom's day, you could play the "it looks cool" card. These days, it won't fly. If you're under 40 and you smoke, you're just a f'n idiot.

No. You're a ****ing addict who is sold these cigarettes because big business comes first and the victims take the blame.

So if I snort 3 grams of nose snow and I keel over dead from a heart attack, it's the coke's fault?

    Nice shirk job.

Pretty poor analogy. But yes, if they catch your dealer, they'll prosecute. But the bigger difference is that coke is illegal and cigarettes are not illegal. They are advertised and glamorized.
