No racist assumptions are needed to oppose demanding that those people come up with ID cards immediately in order to continue voting. In addition, statements by many of the ID law advocates make their real intentions clear. There is also a correlation between states with a history of racism and the recent introduction of restrictive voter ID laws.
Absolute rubbish. College students have ID (can't get a student loan or student housing or classes without it) and the only young people who don't are those who aren't yet old enough to vote. Elderly people have ID, we use it for everything. Low income people have ID, they cannot get benefits without it. And the catchall, "historically oppressed minorities", that's code for black folks and is covered by all the other categories.

Usually young people easily college students have sort of student I.D. card, elderly had to have some sort of photo I.D. at some point in their lives especially if they are immigrants, low income people are able to get some form of I.D. from the government, and there is no reason historically oppressed minorities cannot get some sort I.D. from the gbvoenment. You can get a driver's license, passport, here you can even use a public transport pass card probably.

Yes we require government issued photo I.D., or some other identity card and proof residence, or even if you don't have those you can get someone (who has photo I.D.) to swear on your behalf. More info can be found here.

Everyone has or has the ability to get some sort of ID, ID is a perfectly reasonable requirement to vote. In order for democracy to work there cannot be fraud and ID can prevent that.

I think a much better question is "why shouldn't they have the right to make that choice without a penalty as drastic as losing their right to vote?"

If that were actually true, why would there be a controversy over this?

The same reason ID is required for several other "rights."

Yeah. Those who vote for Democrats are so stupid, that they can not even make yourself ID

    1. Giving people 6-7 months to get an ID is not "immediately"
    2. You're racistly assuming that minorities can't get an ID quickly if they had the motivation.
