Re: Obama On Executive Actions: ‘I’ve Got A Pen And I’ve Got A Phone’

I get that folks (on the Right) don't want tyranny from the Executive branch of gov't, but it always cracks me up when folks cherrypick what they want to hear from the President' s speeches or press conferences and completely ignore the context or intent behind his words. Moreover, how can people who claim to be all for a thriving economy through free market solutions and job growth in the private sector be so pissed about the President using his executive powers to spur private sector job growth when and IF Congress fails to act?

Tyranny. ... dictatorship. ..abuse of power. ..I get all that...know exactly where folks are coming from. But damn, people...overhype and exaggerate much?

Ok, so how many rules should he be allowed to violate or modify as he sees fit?

He's now done more and far worse violations than bush, who in spite of treating the constitution as worthless, at least followed the process.

Then there's the issue of precedent, Bush set a level of precedence a that Obama has expanded On, next, assuming Obama does not himself become a dictator, has set new precedences making it easier for the next person to expand on obama's abuses and be even more likely to become a full-fledged dictator.

Obama has failed at leadership because as a president, he should be able to convince Congress that his actions are just. If he can't do that (which he hasn't), then that's just tough beans.

Each presidency we see more and more power being either given to the president or the president takes. Eventually, we will have a dictator if it keeps following this trend. I don't think Obama is a dictator, however, I do think he's crossed the lines of what I find acceptable behavior. And it will only get worse each presidency at this rate.
How exactly is the President to convince Congress that his actions are just when atleast one half of Congress had decided not to work with him? Remember the "one-term president" agenda Sen. McConnell proclaimed as his mission? Not to work with the President, but rather to do everything possible to render him ineffective.

Just how convincing can a person be to those who choose not to listen or corporate with him?

So you don't know what a signing statement is, but goshdarn it if Obama may have used one it angries up your blood.

Here's a hint, a signing statement can't go on a law not passed. Something tells me you're one of those types who decided to oppose Obama before he even took office since so far you're 0-6.

Tell us more about the unconstitutional signing statements Obama put on laws that were never passed.

The same way Blacks should get along with the Klu Klux Klan. If violence breaks out it's because the Blacks didn't try hard enough to look for solutions to appease The Klan.

If what you say were true don't you think he'd be impeached by now? As for this new "precedent" you're parroting from Conservative talking, there's always the Supreme Court to declare his actions unconstitutional.

    President reigned in...problem solved.

    Really?

I won't even begin to tell you how foolishly ridiculous you sound not to mention absurd.

Where did I say anything about some signing statement? That's your little constraint you are trying to use to restrict the argument. Apparently, in your small world, Obama can do any unconstitutional thing he wants, as long as it wasn't with a signing statement! LOL! That is some compelling point you got there!
