As for Bush's comments being "a poor joke", sorry. It's not the kind of comment a president ever should make. You may not realize it, blinded by your partisan ideology at the time, but there were plenty of people who felt the same way about Bush, as we now feel about Obama. So his comment was FAR from a joke, or funny to us. And, it was a comment he made in variants, 2 or 3 different times. STOP being a partisan yourself, and stop acting as though the constitution is only important to you when a democrat is in the White House!!
I had plenty of problems with Bush, and some of his actions that were unconstitutional. But he does not come close to what Obama is doing to concentrate power and circumvent the Constitution. And yes, there is already too much power in the presidency, way more than was intended. And each president just builds on the power grabbed by the previous president.

If you're going to say that Obama has engaged in illegal behavior then you should prove it. Were you lying in order to whip up hysteria?

You see there's a difference between claiming Obama is engaging in unconstitutional behavior and what Obama is actually saying he's going to do. That you can't tell the difference proves that you're nothing more than a partisan engaging in hyperventilation. If you're going to claim Obama is doing something unconstitutional you should cite an example or admit you're wrong.

Remember when you said that Obama issued signing statements on the Dream Act? That was a false statement you made and it's indicative of your morality, intellectual dishonesty, and conduct. You make false statements and have no regard for the truth. That you don't like being called on it is not my problem. Stop making up false statements.

I wash the President had more than a pen and a phone. I wish he would talk with people more than talk at them over the phone. For someone who is supposed to be so personable, he doesn't seem to engage people that much.

WTF are you talking about? Are you serious? You should take a little time and go through and read this thread. After posting all that I would love to see you go find one post on here where I said Obama was engaged in illegal behavior like you are claiming I did

Well then, if we could just all agree (and of course I mean beyond this board) with that, and then actually start doing something about it. We could reverse this trend that is not going to bode well for our republic. But I fully realise that that is very big IF!

On the contrary - the President has exceeded his power on several occasions. Furthermore, the ability to sign Executive Orders gives the President a narrow ability to exercise control within statutory limits over the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. To use them as a substitute for legislation is no more legal than attempting to do the same with "sense of the senate" bills.

Whoever the next president is I am certain you will not judge him by his actions, but by the letter in front of their name.
Meh, to an extent, but I suspect not the way you think. I tend to have higher standards for Republicans, as they at least nominally run on platforms that I am more upset if they later violate. Obama didn't close down gitmo, and I don't really hold that against him, for example. If the next Republican runs on entitlement reform and then demonstrates zero actual dedication to it while in office, I will not be quite as sanguine.

If this has been a steady progression, and I'll agree it has, are you really going to make an argument that the other guy did it so it's ok?

Show me then when he was proven to have exceeded his power. Not by the opinion of the Republican party but in actual facts.

And I assume you will respect that opinion regardless of the outcome?
