Well, that was just speculation on my part since I wasn't there. As with Zimmerman, I'll reserve my judgment for when I know what the legally competent evidence shows.

All that matters is public safety, right? Isnt that the issue with guns, concealed carry? It's hypocritical in the face of the deaths and injury every single day by vehicle.
Driving in most of the US is a requirement, not an option. Maybe your public transportation system is great but in most cities they aren't and they don't even exist in rural areas. When you NEED a gun to get to work or haul supplies just to live, let me know. Until then, yes, driving is a different subject.

If you're championing a return to the 55 MPH speed limit that's another subject - but that's mostly a money thing, talk to the corporations. Again, not the same as CC. Your comparison of CC and driving is ludicrous at best.

Yea, well, he claimed in court that he was in fear of being attacked.

    No shock there.

That damn butter can be hot.

Judge have him no bail on the murder 2 charges.

A lot of his former cop buddies showed up in support, of course, and said he was not violent.

One could say the same for about all of the recent shooters.

Really? I don't have a good opinion of cops, they are trained to be abusive and the position attracts bullies. Still, I don't expect them to murder me over texting. This cop won't get away with this. He'll be in a special prison for the rest of his life.

This is the other side of the coin. Some times having a "good guy" with a gun ends up being far more dangerous than what would probably have been a simple assault or verbal spat. If we had several times more people running around with firearms for "safety" I wonder how many incidents like this would increase. Humans can lose their temper and react irrationally in the moment. This reminds me of another story where a guy leaving his driveway in his truck was accosted by a door to door salesman and shot him point blank out of pure momentary rage.

Many states already have "several times more people running around with guns" (ie shall-issue CCW), and the alleged bloodbaths or substantial rise in murders has NOT followed. Some states have millions of CCWers without blood in the streets.

An isolated incident which proves nothing.

I think there are special prisons for ex-cops and other high profile government types but a quick Google does not support this. I did find that Russia has 10 prisons exclusively for bad cops.

Looks like a lonely life for this senior.....
