Religious Accommodation at York

My comments have been directly aimed at religion...religious tenets, religious dogma...if you will, which historically have created extremely negative effects on humankind. It''s well documented.

Same with the state, statists, state tenets, state dogma.

At least consider that none of my comments have been pointed at you personally...your family, friends...people in community, state...or country.

I enjoy this debate....

You haven't offended (not that I don't get offended lol) me at all so..

:)

Well, be grateful that I...or somebody else can't.

Erasing RELIGIOUS DOGMA isn't the same as erasing PEOPLE...

What is wrong with you?

See that is what you don't get...You can't erase the "dogma'' without erasing people.

I said...and this is the last time...wait...let me cut and paste what I said...

I don't have the power to simply erase religion from people's minds.

But, I would if I could.....BUT I CAN'T!

The above is from post #78, by the way.

Please at least be honest about my comments...

If the student doesn't like it he can transfer ..... No doubt the student in question is a Muslim.

This would be no different if a student demanded that he was in an all white class (or all black class)..... It's disgusting - furthermore it's demanding that the university in question partake in segregation.

I suppose there is nothing stopping the kid from attempting to form a study group that relies on notes to pass the class but that would be stupid too...

Apparently he may also be an ultra-orthodox Jew.

Who is to say? I think anyone that wants to forbid people living as they like is too illiberal and certainly not somebody I would vote for no matter how much I liked his/her other policies.

Discrimination has no place in any society.

"Give them an inch...." Their way of looking at things does not always mesh with ours. Okay, I understand that. However, would we be given the same consideration in their country if we disagreed with their rules? Or would we be told "this is the way we do things here...you either adapt or leave." I believe we know the answer. I haven't received an answer, though, as to why we should always be expected to back down, when it happens in our country! Fair is fair!
Greetings Carjosse. :2wave:

By their country I assume you mean Canada? and the answer is obviously yes.

Oh I am....That you realize that you can't do that is of little comfort....It would be the same if you had said

'I wish I could erase Judaism from the planet. I can't, but if I could I would....'

It is fascist thinking period. That you understand that you don't have the power to do so, doesn't make your vile bigoted thoughts any less repulsive.

So noted. Thanks for the gracious reply...

Respectfully yours,

I don't see the problem with this, if the school doesn't have a problem with it. A woman does not have a right to be touched or spoken to or interacted with by a man who doesn't want that. Don't see how she is being discriminated against?

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of people from the ME, who have dress restrictions that are currently being challenged in courts around the world. I would be expected to conform to their rules if I lived in their country, which is as it should be, IMO, and I expect the same fairness from them if they choose to live in the US..

Greetings, LOneWOlf. :2wave:

That would make sense if they didn't consider us less than cattle.

Yes there are, private but we do have public catholic schools in Ontario and they should be ended but at least judges drew the line there. You will never see Jewish or Islamic schools and Catholic schools will eventually end.

Don't count on it.

Besides, there are plenty of Jewish, Islamic, and other schools in Canada - they may not be publically funded, but they exist.

I'm reasonably certain that, for some people, the feeling is mutual!

Again Canada is their country and they are conforming in fact to the rules of their country with its rules protecting freedom of religion and expression.
I don't see why Canadian citizens should be treated any differently because they are children of immigrants or are immigrants themselves.
