Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109:573]

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

Which brings us to Who-bio.
Wasn't the Dream Act Senator as much of a joke yesterday as Jindal was a few years back?
Wondering who and how many TEAs will respond to the SOTU .
do you think christie has a chance in hell of winning the white house now?

and if not christie, who is out there in the republican party who stands any legitimate chance of winning. i don't see anyone up close or on the horizon

christie was the GOP's last great white hope. in his case, maybe BIG white hope

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

yes, he may have been lied to
for the last four months
to be in change and have your immediate underlings pull of a stunt like this without your knowledge speaks to his terrible management ability
not what we want or need in the white house

And think of the circumstances. His high school buddy/appointee had to resign from his post a month or two ago and he somehow forgot to tell Christie why?

Gimme a break. Only the extremely gullible can believe Christie.

Again, I don't share your view and I intend to support Christie for POTUS in 2016. I have a feeling you would never have supported him in any case.:peace

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

those qualities would have been admirable ... and he would have remained early favorite
IF he had displayed those traits when the story broke months ago

hell, we showed more interest in what happened with the bridge on these boards than he apparently did

if he is innocent, then he is inept and unworthy of the white house
if he is not innocent, he is the crooked and unworthy of the white house
either way, his presidential aspirations are now DOA
and since the GOP has no one else with the charisma to win, the republican white house hopes are now trashed, too

More wishful thinking.... or perhaps "hope" without the change?
Who knows what else will come out - perhaps nothing. If nothing else and he was honest, THAT is how to take responsibility and accountability as well as take action. Christie provided a crash course on how to be a leader today. I'm hoping the WH was taking notes.

on these boards i have long ago pronounced that in a race between hillary and christie, my vote will go to christie
which means your post is very wrong
and maybe your error is only the result of your being ignorant of the facts, like christie was of what was going on by his staffers
and both of you have sullied your reputation with your public displays of that ignorance
so, i am disappointed in both of you
the only difference is, unlike christie, you would never would have had my vote

Sorry I misunderstood. Most Christie voters are smart.:peace

if christie had shown that willingness to own the problem back when it first became public knowledge, i would agree with your post

but he didn't
he made a calculated error by ignoring the issue until the media presented it in such a way that it could no longer be ignored
christie was forced to take this action
character would have been displayed had he done it months ago when that was the right thing to do
all he is doing now is playing victim while simultaneously pretending to take responsibility. too clever by half. but then he need not be very clever to appeal to the lemming on the right

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

Obviously I don't accept your assessment, and I doubt that you really believe it either. He was lied to by people he trusted. It happens.:peace

OR in other words he is an incompetent manager picking people for important posts who had little ethical grounding

A chance in hell? Sure, and I can say that rationally without being likely to vote for him. The election is so far away with so many impossible variables to predict, that it's certainly possible. That said, I will absolutely change my opinion 180 degrees if anything significant that he said during today's press conference turns out to be a lie backed up by facts.

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

Excluding Christie from any involvement in this sinister act how in the hell did this go on for four days?

He fired his top aide but this must involve more than one person. Am amazed a pissed off trooper after dealing with this traffic jam for four days didn't ram the barricades off the road with his car.

The emails from the staff find humor in people's discomfort and there is no way in hell this is their first rodeo in the improper use of their positions. If Christie is really serious perhaps he needs to flush his whole staff out.

I was just thinking the same. Who was that poster talking about?

Governor or President

Wouldn't it be great if executives actually did that?

Unemployment would go up drastically though.

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

I love the media reaction to this story. I fully intend to wake up tomorrow and read that the Fort Lee traffic jam caused 9/11.

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

Maybe, maybe not. The emails don't really indicate that. It does show political douchebaggery (making fun of the mayor in panic) by top Christie aids but that not all too surprising and wouldn't be shocked if most political internal comms are similar. I read through them, I don't see anything clear cut that it was intended to punish this mayor, it was a traffic study of why the exit needed 3 toll booths. Wonder what the studies actual results look like.

The emails linked were a big mess, could have missed something in the flow.

There wasn't a traffic study. That was a lie by Wildstein... who later admitted that he simply ordered the lane closures. And here is Wildstein's email reply to Kelly... the lady in Christie's office who just got fired.

It was Wildstein who responded in August to Kelly's email request that it was “time for some traffic problems” aimed to disrupt the life of the Fort Lee mayor.

Being liberal = lifetime of failure.

So I comment on your post and you retort with trying to get personal. Stay classy champ!

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

First, I don't really like Christie. But I really don't like this story.

There's pretty compelling evidence that a few people abused their positions to retaliate against a political opponent. There's a good chance that these were criminal acts. They deserve a chance to defend themselves, but they should probably face a face wrongful death lawsuit at the minimum. Certainly we should investigate what they did and why they did it.

But why is this about Christie? So far there's zero evidence that he had anything to do with anything. The way he handles this is very important, and the fact that it happens raises questions about his management style. But this is not a Christie scandal until we know that he did anything wrong.

Ask yourself, how would this story be covered if Christie wasn't a frontrunner for the GOP in 2016? Don't you think this story is being pushed towards Christie purely for political reasons? And I'm not blaming just Democrats. There are more Republicans interested in taking down Christie before he has a chance to build any national momentum.

solid point.

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

Christie was excellent today: honest, forthright and accountable. I will support him for POTUS in 2016.:peace

Honest huh? I suppose you don't need any investigation or anything... if he say's it, it's true. That's that. lol

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

He said he believed until yesterday that none of his people were involved, and I believe him. You have evidence he wasn't truthful?:peace

Wildstein, Christie's appointee to head the port authority that made the order to shut down those lanes... yeah, that was Chris Christie's high school buddy. I'm sure they never talked about any of this since it happened four months ago.

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

^ What he said.

Simple

Considering that all the GOP b****ing about Obama being involved in the so call "IRS scandal" and now many of those same GOPers are staying quiet now about Christie. I am just trying to determine if all that crying was legit or just more partisan reality TV.

I mean why are both situations different?

Why do Christie get a pass from you guys?

Re: Emails link top Christie aide to GWB lane-closing controversy - [W:77,109]

He knows better than anyone that his political future depends on the truthfulness of what he said today. Personally, I believe him, but my confidence in his truthfulness is buttressed by the circumstances.:peace

Not only that, but he RESIGNED over it last month. But Christie was shocked ! shocked! When he heard about the scandal just yesterday.

So his HS buddy and top appointee from a significant state agency abruptly leaves, but Christie isn't even curious as to why?
